:(hi, I have this 445nm diode with the 1.7A driver, i used it a few times, and the last time i was using it, it had this strobbing effect. And went dim, so i when i connect the driver to the battery (18650) it's bright for less then a second, then it just dims, the output is very low.

could it be the diode or the driver?

the diode is in a large heatsink, i have never ran it more than 5-8 seconds.

if its the diode could i possibly repair it, (impossible for me) :(

Sounds more like a connection or battery issue

It might be a connection or component in the driver, but I would start troubleshooting at the battery and connections

Peace,
dave

I've had 445nm diodes die like this. When you turn it on, it starts off bright, then rapidly dims down again.

What driver was it? What battery are you using?

Sounds like either a current or heat issue. Maybe a FMT driver with a untrafire or similar cell.

I think its the driver.. disconnect the diode and buy a good driver like X-Drive for it!

Classic sign of an overdriven 445nm diode aging out. Lowering drive current may give him some more run time from it before it dies. Most of these were designed to be run at 1.2A and they tend to get pushed well past that.
