445nm bad diode?

I've used pure acetone without any ill effects. In fact, i immersed the diode in there for several hours because the crud was quite stubborn (probably got melted on the window)

Are you crazy?!! :eek: the pure acetone may corrode the glue to the window and enter the diode and could dissolve layer anti-reflection
 
Acetone shouldn't dissolve any optical coatings.

I would worry about any polymer parts though. What are the little black rings made out of that isolate the case pins from the case itself? I don't believe I've ever actually examined them to see exactly what they're made of.

Usually, fused glass. ..... 99% of these "pins passthrough" are made in high temperature, high stability glass, for the high insulation, low capacitance and high temperature resistance (other the mechanical resistance)
