300mw yellow?

why cant you focus the red beam?

Well, think about it, focussing it at anywhere other than 'infinity' could cause thick, and thin spots, focussing it too close would cause it to expand faster...That's my thought, although maybe when it hits a mirror it stops expanding, I dunno...if only it were that easy, then it wouldn't be a hobby......

yeah i thought about the thick and thin spots then i guess the beam expander would be your only choice and no if your laser is unfocused mirrors kinda speed it up? idk how to say but you make longer distances in a shorter space with mirrors if that explains it i did it with my green and it happened.

A mirror won't stop a laser beam from expanding or contacting. It only changes the direction its going.

You could use a aperture hole to cut off some of the red beam or a green beam expander. Each way would have its ups and downs. The beam expander will be pretty large and hard to focus but you could then use a larger green laser because of the lower power density. A aperture hole would make the red loose a bit of power but it would also keep the whole assembly smaller. I've also heard that shining a laser through an aperture hole can cause artifacts which make the beam look bad and thats no good!

Overall for a pointer combining beams is really no good. Unless you get the divergence of each laser dead on matched the red or green will eventually start to expand over the other color. If it was to be used for something like a lasershow or a project where the laser will project only a short distance then it can be done.

I think he means either using a beam expander on the green or a beam contractor (reducer?) on the red. And it would work, but it wouldn't be easy to set up. There would also be more losses
