300mW 808nm Laser diodes on eBay for $4.49 free shipping!

Yup, but unlike Blu-ray diodes, they WILL survive accidental reverse voltage. I accidentally hooked my 2nd diode up the wrong way, case ground, after powering the diode like this for a minute or so, cursing that again that I got a dud, then I realized what I had done. But I decided to check it just in case. I fliped it around... and waa-laa, 300mW at 400mA!!! :san:

confirmed, it took it, and still works.

Yeah they produce a bar that doesn't collimate that well, at least with an Aixiz acrylic lens.

whats a good current to run these at? 400mA?

That's what I'm running mine at. The diode will get pretty warm at that current pretty fast. But it does seem pretty powerful. It burns electrical tape like crazy. I estimate they're around 300mW at that current.

The ones i bought operate max at 450mA but i think 420 would be a good number:D

"420" is commonly used as a euphemism for marijuana, which is generally smoked by its users. I was making a joke.

As much as im ashamed to say im a seasoned marijuana user and I've never heard '420' used in any way, shape or form relating to marijuana.

Must be an American thing...

Perhaps. Search craigslist.com for "420" and you'll find hundreds of examples of what I'm referring to.

if i have a 650nm laser housing(aixiz) will it work with a 808nm 300mw laser diode?

thanks in adavance

Hello

I want to make a burning laser to grab on wood.
A 300mw 808nm laser with the correct driver and the correct lenses can do it?

Wich is the best driver and lenses for it?

thank you so much

UOTE=Jex;736977]808nm 300mW High Power Burning Infrared Laser Diode Lab

Is this worth getting?, Im aware of the dangers of IR and just need advice on price and operating current/voltage.

And just thought i would share it in case its a good deal[/QUOTE]
