300mW+ 650nm C6 build! (Pic heavy)

this the 300mW 650nm diode from DTR?

just got a new driver from Moh, only 378mA though. my other drivers are 1.8A, 568mA and 428mA. think ill build two of these and sell one, now to debate which driver to use first......hmmmm

Yep, it's from DTR. I'd go with the 428 for higher output, but I wouldn't risk anything over 500mA with this diode.

forgot to mention the 568mA is for a 405nm build ;)

Looks like the picture on DTRs site is stock photo then since your doesnt have the white lead and looks like this diode only has two pins. how long did it take to arrive from order date?

been waiting to order this diode for legit 2+ months now. ugh i hate how busy you can get sometimes! funniest part is ive literally walked 2 or 3 members through building their laser yet this will be my first build, its about darn time!

When I order from DTR it usually only takes 3-4 days. His times are much better than anywhere else I've ordered from besides Amazon Prime 2 day. Maybe he just lives close to me?

Would have gone with 478 but this is for a friend, not myself.

Try not to push it too much further than what you already have. I have an LPC-826 that I just fried at 452mA. It ran well for about a minute (not even a minute straight, actually. Just 10 second intervals) and then zombied. I tested it again after a couple of minutes and switching the batteries out and it didn't make photons at all. Upon throwing it under the microscope (literally) I see that one of the gold wires is broken from too much current. Just a heads up!

made mine today, also at 428mA.......had to fight with this build but she is finished. made a mistake but youll have to wait until the thread to find out what dumb thing i did :p

whats even dumber is half way through the Bruins 2nd OT it hit me! DUH, didnt have to do all that extra work.....i call double brain fart!

Well since genius here won't spill his guts I'm just going to take a few shots in the dark:

1. Something to do with the C6 being a nifty host that's isolated and not case negative/positive.

2. Something to do with the amount of space available inside the C6.

3. Something to do with heat sinking the driver.

AM I GETTING WARM YET?

Nice build, it's similar to the build I'm doing very soon, although I might pick a different, more "exotic" wavelength such as 638 or 450nm. If I can afford it

you probably wont guess, it was that dumb. i feel stupid for doing this now, especially since the solution was SO EASY but i didnt think that way and did about 2x the work to fix it.

My thread probably wont be up for a little bit since im super busy with painting but when i get the chance i keep adding to my word doc for it

:gj: Very nice build! I really liked working with the C6 and the S4 hosts. I want to do a 650nm build next, but don't have the eye protection for that wavelength yet.. I know how I am and how tempted I would by to "just try it" before I got the specs =P

When I finished my 2.2w M140 S4 build, I turned on a video camera and closed my eyes and clicked it on and off to test then reviewed the video to see it :lasergun:
