200mW violet @ 59$ on KD? (focusable on 18650)

In all likely hood it will be another spirograph build. Should be my most powerful yet though. I will have to test how well it performs at these powers over time.

Okay Niko, I am not sure when or where it happened but the diode died. I have had it in my desk drawer at work for a while and it was working, then I brought it home last night in my backpack on my motorcycle but I just through it in there loosely (connected to the circuit board still with tape over the window) I am guessing that is where it died. Anyhow I desoldered it from the circuit board, trimmed back the long pins on the diode and installed it into an aixiz module, soldered the circuit board back on and installed it in the spirograph. All that came out was a wimpy little 5mW light. Needless to say I was pretty bummed. I had a spare PHR lying around so I swapped the diodes out and now the spiro is up and working well at 125mW. At least I got a driver and a host out of the deal. Still havent found a use for the host though. We will see. If I had a drill I could easily make a nice violet/red/ or IR out of it. All the focusing assembly is already there. It would be a simply slide the module in and epoxy it is place kinda job.

I also purchased one, I liked the host on the green one so much, I wanted a matching set lol :D
60$ for a 80mW in a pretty host aint a bad deal

That sucks, man. Maybe it was a weird temperature change. At least you can replace it with a 6x or better.

Guess we'll have to wait 'till DX finally gets a winner like the Dilda but on bluray.

Just so you guys know, I purchased the "200mW violet laser" from focalprice as a guinee pig. The specs said 532nm, the box said green laser pointer, the warning label said 532nm but when I turned it on it was indeed violet although only 80mW of violet, pot moddable to higher power but a pain to get back together again. If anyone would like this host let me know. I have one sitting here collecting dust.

I don't feel like reading this entire thread, are you still offering to sell that host?

Hey, yobresal... if you read this, how did you open the host? I have the old green one, and somehow the optics got misaligned or something, because I can't focus it small any more (probably due to it banging around a lot, including luggage on trips). Anyway, I've been meaning to open it and fix it for a while now, but I could never figure it out. Do you have any tips?

Thanks in advance!, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS! :)

I honestly do not remember. I have opened up so many lasers since then and I do not have one similar to it ATM to figure it out again.n Sorry. I am thinking that I took off the focusing assembly and then pushed the module out through either the front or back end. Can't remember which.
