i don't feel it is too preachy. HIMNL9:wtf:'s point i feel is good. it is how i was raised. i wasn't just told to not do something. but i was always given an explanation of why something was bad. it always made me think.

Very nice!,

I'm still only a year into my experience with high powered lasers and this is a very nice thing to read. I must confess my safe handling of my lasers has dwindled since the first day I turned on my 100mW green torch, safety glasses on and scared. I guess you get "comfortable" and that is just not a good thing when dealing with anything that can so irreparably cause damage to you and your surroundings. I think the rule I tend to forget the most is probably #15 or basically my guests eyes. Ideally I would have safety glasses for everyone :)

Also I heard that if you are exposed to the 445nm beam for a long time you could lose the ability to see green. So not just the dot is dangerous. I am guessing that using the correct safety glasses would prevent this. I am still a noob so I'm not 100% sure :whistle:
 
You are correct. Goggles will help block the wavelength, and protect your eyes from the danger on many levels.
 
I got caught by a refection and now have a small blind spot at the top right of my visions. Goggles are a must.

I could see it for a long time, but its faded now. Sometimes it looks like something is crawling up the wall next to where I'm sitting.

Yeah Editic was the old whiner BobH...
He was given another chance on LPF after being Banned
for being a Drama Queen...

He was about the most childish member I had ever seen
on LPF and the guy is over 50 years old...
As soon as no-one bows down to him in Godlike homage
he would take a hissy-fit ...stomp his feet...and scream...

By him deleting the info... it just proves my evaluation of
him...

Now he is found on PL and is still whining about all the
"meanie heads" over on this Forum...

Everytime I hear him whine about this Forum...
