This will be my review of the Flaminpyro SS-032. This started out as a single flexdrive at 1.5A however in the push for more I decided to go for a dual flexdrive setup. Both flexdrives are set for 900mA a piece. At this level I found zero heating problems and no need for heatsinks on the drivers. It would have been extremely difficult to heatsink them both in this host anyway. A single flexdrive would burn your finger quickly at 1.5A and at 900mA I barely noticed warmth. Testing was done with a 405G1 lense but normally I use an Aixiz glass.

I have now found the need for premium 18650's. The Trustfire's being good for the money for most things are taking a beating at this current draw.

You may have overflowed an integer depending on how many nW it outputs... :p

Very short I'm sure. I use the same host (SS18650 build by jayrob) and running it at only 900mA it still heats up relatively quickly (ie 30-60seconds or so). So at double that power... it would heat up pretty darn fast. But in all fairness I rarely have need to actually run my laser very long at a time, and given it is pushing out over double the power would mean it would be burning stuff even faster thus reducing your need to power it for long. I expect at those powers realistically he's probably a 15-30second duty cycle, I'm sure you could push it more than that but you probably wouldn't want to push it too far.

Can you make a video showing the power drop in that host in a few minute run? I would be interested to see.

If he pushed it anymore it would just shut off. We had a member push it well over 2W w/o the 406g1 lens, and it shut down. Then it came back to life after he turned it down. But then it degraded very fast, and zombied IIRC.

No no, that comment was in reference to pushing the duty cycle, not increasing the power :). I generally play it pretty safe on overheating so there is most certainly room above the numbers I stated, but I would expect a normal duty cycle to follow somewhere around those numbers in this host.
 
The FP heatsink does have more mass than Jayrob's design. Obviously this isn't a huge host with a huge heatsink however at 1 minute runtime it is quite warm. At 2 minutes I would consider it hot. Ive really had no need to run it more than 1 minute at a time. I currently have around 30 minutes runtime so far with zero degradation.
 
I just had the meter to above 2.4W by adding my red at the same time.
 
Great Job :) a very powerfull build.

I think DTR's remark is right : They won't be balanced, so adding HS to the driver is a good idea.
