Re: Help these find a good home. Sale Thread! *offers welcomed*

At least keep the Rigel Alex!

I'll see what I can buy tomorrow. Good luck on the sale!

Re: Help these find a good home. Sale Thread! *offers welcomed*

Dang man, you ought to keep the rigel and maybe a libra at least. There's no sense in always rebuilding a collection and selling it off at a loss. Just trying to offer some frank advice here.

Hey guys,

Okay, I suppose that's be the smartest thing to do honestly. I'm not at home right now, so all lasers are still for sale except the Rigel. I'd probably be super sad after selling knowing how long it took me to get one :(

Exactly---is like the 4th or 5th time now of same old same old dump the lasers for pennies on the dollar for seemingly no real reason and buy them all again for reasons unknown--is like a broken record repeating. There is a a new GLP-532nm bought and on the way already.

Is not a question of smart or not, doubt it has anything thing to do with same. Look at the pattern and ask your self why if having second thoughts.

Is just whatever you you imagine you want to do and then do, for whatever reasons.

It's just how my brain works, I don't know why. I would like to get caught up on all the debts I've accumulated, which is what these funds will be going to.

Sorry....

Again, no need to apologise Alex. If only we all had massive amounts of income to indulge in our hobby. :yabbem:

The thing is, I don't, and I can't understand for the life of me why my brain has to be such a PITA sometimes with my collection. One day, oh it's fine, the other day sell it to get matching pens. Back and forth. *sigh* :(

Alien laser decided to buy my 650 & 635 and I've asked if he doesn't mine if I send his $40 back. If he still wants them, I'll of course send them! I've only lost 2 lasers in this whole mess! The 473 is still up for grabs guys, that one is for sure.

No worries--nothing to be sorry about.--it really doesn't matter, the reason.

People naturally remember past buys and sales, think "here he goes again", and wonder about your decision assuming you will just buy again --loss adds up giving you little if anything for money spent.

Good to hear and don't worry too much about these things. We all have our weird mental quirks which make life hard for us sometimes. I lost literally thousands of dollars before finding what I really wanted when I was a newb getting into hifi audio.

I'D buy an amplifier and a year later I wouldn't be happy with it anymore because I'd originally made some compromises in what I bought due to finances. Then I'd sell off the amp for like 60% of what I bought it for to buy a newer better amp which wouldn't leave me unsatisfied in the future. In one case I bought a pair of subwoofers for $700 and then grew unhappy with them in about 3 weeks after opening one and observing that they seemed to be cheaply made. I ended up relegating them to my lower quality sound system in the basement and buying a new pair of exotic high end subs which I'm finally happy with.

Lessons learned: Don't buy something I think I might become unhappy with in the future. If I cannot afford what I really want then it's better to save up for a few months than to compromise and buy something which will leave me unhappy and get sold at a loss or moved to the basement.

Alex, I understand to a degree. I've had issues in my past too. Also on topic, I have countless laser related parts/objects indoors that I currently can't do anything with. This is because I went into some crazy spend up trying to achieve an expensive goal for a budget. How do you think this went? :( Not well is the answer, the project or should I say projects could not be completed due to financial reasons where I bought and didn't think it through thorough enough. :banghead:
Anyway, do try to get your debts payed off. That is a sensible thing to do, but balance is important. You should keep some of collection at least.

I very much agree guys. I'll keep the 515, 593, 450 and depending on Alien laser, the 650 & 635. The 594 is actually amazingly stable, and I get a sic stand 3mW's out of it. Silly to get rid of it.

I just feel like a burden sometimes..... :undecided:

Unreasonable and imagined expectations for whatever reasons that will never pan out in reality or change anything,---OK well, very seldom do for anyone. is probably why.

It's not like you are a 3rd party to yourself.--
You are 100% in charge of you at 20 years old.

Just learn to recognize the signs of emotion based imaginings and realize that is all it is and no need to take any action if there is no basis for it in reality-- because the result will always be the same. Let common sense rule--nothing with nothing is still nothing.

If you don't know what or why you are doing--if it doesn't even make any sense to you -if it is just emotional noise based decisions about whatever it is--think about it, then think about it again, second, then a third time, then don't do it is he only advice I can offer. Same as prior.

Sound like a plan for the moment.
It is 100% up to you--matters little if at all to anyone else.
Everyone is busy populating their own world laser-wise as they see fit/want to do.

I'm glad to hear you are hanging on to most of your collection, Alex. You shouldn't second guess yourself. That drives people crazy. I still have many of my lasers going back 10 years. The few I don't have were given away or built for someone specifically.
