100mW waterproof green laser $68 GB#2

I have lots of lasers so it's fine thanks though guys.
All lasers are now shipped. Just got back from the post office.
Also remember to charge your
Batteries and let your lasers warm up before
You expect max power.

Awesome thanks Yob! Sucks that another laser is DOA, i'd be willing to chip in as well, it really is no problem, you should get a working laser after organizing these group buys!

I am really surprised at your generosity guys. You are all reacting much differently then I thought you would. I know I was pretty bummed when I noticed they were about 20% less powerful then the last GB. Since there are more than a few of you who have offered I wouldn't feel bad about accepting a small donation. My paypal is lukepetrakis@gmail.com
Thanks guys. It will be nice to finally get a working laser (even if it is a month out)
Side note. I tested all of your lasers and the mW ratings is marked on the outside of the box. There were maybe 3 or 4 that need a good 30 second warm up. I do not know if that will change or stay the same. It is typical with green lasers and will often go away. it also depends on the climate you live in.

$15 sent maybe if you get a few more donations we could pay or almost pay for you to put your name on the GB#3 list. That would help them toward their goal of 10 people and possibly get you a laser faster. So killing 2 birds with one stone.Keep the other host for a project or send it back. You have been more then nice/helpful to me and the rest of the LPF community so its always nice to give back.

Thanks a bunch you guys. That's more then generous of you. If anyone in this GB ever wants a 1.2W 445nm I will build one for you at a discounted price. Thanks guys!

No problem, glad I could help.

$10 sent, you definitely deserve to get a working laser for all of your work here.

Thanks for putting this together,

Done. I don't mind doing this at all. This is actually one of my favorite greens and I really hope you can get a working one. At this rate, it might easier to just get another one and not worry about sending that one back. Oh and the wife want's you to know it's from her as well. :p

What can I say, I think I've converted her over to the world of lasers. :)

Thanks a bunch guys! You rock! And thank your wife too. If you guys every need a 445nm diode I'll hook it up at cost, and I'll make you a better deal on a 1.2W then you can get anywhere else.

Not a problem buddy and thanks to everyone else who pitched in as well. I might have to take you up on your offer in the near future I love the 2 lasers Ive already bought from you.

hey luke, i'll be sure to donate to your cause...

on a side note though, my laser came in today!!!! its very nice, smaller than expected which is a good thing. on my laserbee I-X i lpm'ed it at 118mW w/o IR filter...the box says 82... one thing i noticed was that after 15-20 secs the power started to climb up slowly... it was around 95-105 after 20 seconds, but from 20-45 seconds it climbed to 118-120 and settled there. im not sure if my lpm is off, but i didnt think it was leaking that much IR...from 118 down to 82, thats about 36mW of IR...

well the power thing aside, this is a great host and very waterproof, I just gave it a 2 minute 8 inch submerge test and it was fine.

thanks luke for this GB!!! i'll send some money to help you out after lunch

EDIT: $10 sent for your troubles... hope it helps!!

ohh the batteries that come in the box said they are 3V batteries...is it safe to use 3.7V ultrafire batteries. I noticed a small increase in power with the 3.7V batteries but if its not safe to use them I wouldnt risk the laser over the 10mW increase in power.

Glad you got your laser. The power takes a while to warm up on these. I do not know if it is just because they haven't been used/tested much or what. But it is not uncommon for green lasers to increase in power the more you use them. I tried to test them as fairly as possible. I have a 650-725mW green laser that won't reach full power until after over a minute of being on. It is better to have it this way then to have one that starts off at 115mW and then fades out to 80mW. IMO

absolutely right!! peak power is useless if it only lasts 2 seconds... I like how the climb is fairly consistent and once it peaks, it stays there for a better part of 1 minute...overall nice design... and decent green power for the price. to be honest i was praying it would be over 100mW after IR filter, but i know thats wishful thinking at this price...

and another thing, I think you missed my edit from above, but i wanted ask if these lasers can take a 3.7V battery since the battery that came with it are 3V.

Ok guys, since i think im the first person to recieve this laser, im gonna share some things with those who participated in the GB. Hopefully if anyone has the same question, it can be answered here.

on the front part of the laser that unscrews I noticed there was a glass lens that had a purple tint. Now im wondering if thats an IR filter, or just a AR coated lens that keeps the water out ( i assume its AR coated from the purple-ish tint i see...)

also, with the front end off, and the green module exposed, I lpm'ed the laser and it shot up pretty damn high, I hit 158mW. so now im really really curious as to what exactly is that tinted glass they use to keep out the water... is it simply a water shield?, AR coated?, or maybe even a IR filter?

the loss from that front piece is considerable so I really would want to know what that thing is.
