After a month of waiting, the NDS7175 has finally arrived and it is glorious. Rated at 2W I'm only feeding it 1.3A and its producing 1.2W @ 489nm through a G8 lens. In terms of divergence its identical to a NUBM07 using a G-ball adapter and G8. This diode has a remarkably low max operating temp of just 30C or 86F. To reduce the possibility of cooking the diode I'm purposely under driving the diode to minimize waste heat and I've modified the host to be momentary on/off only.

I present to you a terrible financial decision.........errr I'm mean my latest collection!

You'll notice the new 489nm is in the middle and I'm having to hold the power on for the picture, all the other Spyders have the original smart switch drivers in them but the new laser is using a ACS1500SE driver.

The color is amazing, 485-495 has always been my favorite range of laser colors and I finally have class 4 laser in that range.

For anyone interested in the rest of the Spyder III's I have here they are. I've colored the text to better reflect the true colors of the lasers as my camera does a poor job of accurately capturing them.

Lunar that is unmodified making 630mW @ 410nm

Arctic with a GH04I01A2G making 1400mW @ 425nm

Arctic that has been pot modded, G8 lens and new output window from Edmunds. It was originally 700mW but now it makes 1130mW @ 444nm

Arctic with a NUBM07 with G-ball adapter and G8 producing 2600mW @ 471nm

Lunar with a NDS7175 making 1200mW @ 489nm

Krypton that is unmodified making a peak of 550mW @ 532nm

Krypton with an OPT Lasers module making 18mW @ 572nm

Arctic with a GH0637AA2G making 500mW @ 639nm

Wow. That is seriously impressive. How the heck did you get one of those diodes, and how much did it run you? We have been trying to get them in bulk quantities for ages, but they are still elusive…

That's a great wavelength, I wonder how much shift there is with temp and how much it can take.
You only have the 1 diode so I wouldn't push it either.

Edit:
Is it warming up between your 4th and 5th pics ? Looks more dark blue in #4 and more light blue in #5 ...... or could just be your camera's white balance.

These diodes seem to be out there in the wild but the price......

Thats just the cameras white balance going out of whack, the laser wasn't on for more than one sec for each of those pictures. I make sure this laser stays nice and cool when I use it.

Thanks! Evans965 put me in contact with LaserTack in Germany who were able to sell me one of these diodes in module for 3090 euros. After shipping and an import fee it totalled out to $3590

I tried buying one of those from them but they never got back to me, so I went with LaserTack

I'll patiently wait a couple more years till we get 5w 488nm diodes for a better price.
But hey @Gryphon congrats! Is the best wavelength in my opinion i call those chameleon😅

Very nice diode.

I was thinking about building a 16 diode 488nm knife edge array. Sadly these 2W diodes are „cheaper“ than an array and take less space and time.
Still to expensive for me.
