Do you have the diode for this build? Do you want exactly the same host assembly but with the driver set at 400mA?

yes and yes, 400mA should work nicely for both lpc reds and 12x blu-rays

Do you have the diode for this build? Do you want exactly the same host assembly but with the driver set at 400mA?

With the red diode, because the case pin is used as the negative terminal there is a possibility that the circuit could short from the diode to the host and bypass the driver. You would then have a direct drive which would instantly burn out the diode. But because the host is anodized that possibility is reduced. I am also considering including an anodized heat sink with this particular assembly to provide additional electrical isolation.

With a Blu-Ray diode there is no shorting problem, as with the 445nm diodes.

Ive actually never built an lpc815 laser before, but I have owned one, and I dont think its an issue. I could be wrong though. Im trying to figure out where the diode would short to get unregulated B+

I still have these available, as well as a couple of the "tight pill" host assemblies for $40. Also, I have received a few custom 400mA drivers that I will incorporate into these assemblies soon for red & Blu-Ray builds.

Im interested in making a 12x blu ray soon so i might be interested in one of these.

They are "buck" (step-down) drivers based on the AXElite AX2002 regulator chip. They work best on an input voltage of 6-8.4V. I am offering the complete host assembly with anodized heat sink w/set screw, lens cap, Allen wrench and custom modded 400mA driver installed for $70 plus $3 shipping. I have three in stock for Blu-Ray and two for LPC red diodes.
