Oh ok, do u know if the laser will dim down to faint blue before the minimum safe voltaqge for these lifepo4s or will it be bright past then. I used half dead normal cells and about a days off and on it was just aa blue faint light. Not sure of the voltage on those when it stopped lasing. I'm still very new to this. Thanks for the info!!

Judging by post #11 the driver will still pull current from the batteries down past 3.7V. That means it WILL draw two unprotected LiFePo4's down below 2.2 each, and kill them.

These are powered by 2 CR123A batteries. You can also use 1 18650 battery but the current regulation will cut out and the laser will only be half as powerful (in many cases it may not meet the threshold and won't laze at all. The driver is a buck driver current regulated with an input voltage range of 3-18V.Take a look in the driver "drivers for 445nm" threadfor more details. The driver runs nice and smooth with 2 CR123A batteries. I have tested it with lower voltages and the driver will not properly regulate with a single 18650..power will be around half. I have not tested with voltages above 8.4.

And no, I cannot tell you if the 1 ->½ power happen at a voltage level where it will serve as recharge warning.

Great laser! I love mine, so glad I canceled the Arctic after waiting 2 months and wound up getting this instead. I love the small pocketable size and focusability. I just put a bit of teflon tape on the lens threads and it's perfect. Thanks Yobresal!

For everyone who thinks this cannot ignite paper... think again. Here are the steps.
1. go to printer
2. take a piece of paper (yes plain white printer paper)
3. crumple it up
4. focus beam onto paper (i did it at about 6 inches)
5. wait ~10 seconds and tada!

No gasoline required.

I'll do it again tonight and take a video of it.

well the 3v lifepo4s 750mah last a day of mild usage lol however it does say max capacity wont be reached until 4 or 5 charge/discharge cycles.

I did check the voltage from the cells when the laser reached the point were it isnt a laser and dims out and each cell was 2.85 or so which is before the 2.2v danger zone so if you have these batteries that me be useful or if you need to order some.

its still amazing.

Danager zone? Should the laser not be operated with low/dead batteries? Mine went dim at like 2.8 or 2.6 volts.

you dont want to drain the lithium batteries to far or you can damage them.

for the ones i have its 2.2v so im good, yours are safe to I assume the min. voltage is also around 2.2v for normal lithium ions rechargables but im not sure.

got mine in the mail today Yobresal, waiting on goggles and new batteries. i want to try burning something then. Looked good in the sky for a bit then i guess the batteries were low. I look foreward to more nights and fog, and of course burning. i;ll let you know when that happens. thanks for the quick shipping and professionalism

New Laser Eye Safety Glasses Goggles Protect 532 473 - eBay (item 280573566111 end time Oct-17-10 20:00:12 PDT)

I ended up getting the eagle glasses off ebay. For 30$ they can not be beat.
They COMPLETELY stop the beam. And when you have the glasses on the dot is VERY visible for burning. Very happy with them.

On the down side, they are sort of light and flimsy. Wouldnt take much to break the temples off, but i'm not exactly wrestling anyone while wearing them so they're great.

How exactly do you focus the lens? just by turning the head? or you have to remove stuff before? i ask because its important to me that the laser stays on while I focus it.
Is it possible to make this laser waterproof(=submergable at least 5m)?

That small knurled knob on the front of the laser is the lens, you can easily turn it with the laser on.
