Some pics.and a strange fog effect W/1W 445nm. (pic. heavy)

I finally got around to taking some pics. of my 445nm. Was waiting for a foggy night. I woke up at 4:30 one morning and not only was it foggy but there was a very fine mist in the air. PERFECT! After taking the pics., I noticed a strange phenomenon in the beam. At the end of the beam there was a...

DMX Controller Advice (Updated with more questions)

I know I'm spamming:eg:but, I posted this on the B/S/T section (no reply's yet) so thought I'd post it here also. There might be more scanner gurus here to read it. I just bought my first scanners and need a DMX controller. Is this one any good? Worth the price and wait? (8/30 until they are in...

    WTB: DMX Controller

I have been out of the loop for a while now, but it is time to start off where I left, getting started on scanners! I now have (2) 4-head RGYV animation scanners and need a controller, and some knowledge about them.(the manuals that came with them are worthless) I will (as always) do...

My First 445nm Labbie (lots of Pics.)

Here's some pics. of my first 445 build. I decided to make it a labbie until I get the heat and current demands worked out. Output is around 900mW using a stock Aixiz lens. I am sure it will top 1W with the glass 445nm lens from Hak. I have already melted a stock one. Burned to a crispy blob is...

    ML Argon w/Coherent optic.

Here's some pictures of the "lab Style" Argon diffraction grating, I was looking for, and found, thanks to ElektroFreak DEOS Silicon Diffraction Grating Mirror CO2 made by Coherent Optics This DG blows away any that I have ever used. The line are well separated and divergence on the lines are...

    Another new toy,543nm He-Ne

This is another toy I got off of Len (hakzaw1) He paid me a visit with some very cool lasers (and ideas) We spend 3 whole days talking, fixing, showing off lasers.:D Melles-Groit 05-LGR-173-277 543nm He-Ne W/ 05-LPL-340-865 power supply. Brand new, in box. Outputs .95mW seconds after firing...

    Argon And Dichros. (Pics.)

Yes, I know I'm spamming, but these are different pictures,so there:eg: 2214-40MLA outputing 75mW@8.6A. These pics. were taken at 5A, because it was blinding the camera (white-out) Taken through a Dichroic Filter, a mirror, and 2 CD's I have to work on my optics set up, without being able to...

    WTB: "Lab" Diffraction Gratings

I need some cool toys for my new "baby"! I am Looking for a "lab grade" Transmission Beam Fan Diffraction Grating and/Or a Reflection Beam Fan, if anybody has one cheap/fair. The only places I've seen some are from Dragon Lasers, at $11.99, I doubt they are close to lab grade. Edmond Optics are...

    Some Argon Pics. {{UPDATED}}

I finally was able to take some Argon pics. Had to find a suitable fan before I could run it. Cyonics 2214-40ML putting out 70mW@8.6A All the beam shots were taken at 7.0A. In the 20-25 minutes it was on, the temp. in the head rose by <10 degrees (I bought a big fan):D

    How old am I? :)

I just won this laser pointer on eBay. Not much info, except: New in box, never used. Made by Deharpporte Trading Co, Eden Praire, MN. I have never seen any pointer quite like it. It reminds me of my old 670nm one. Ahhh!!, You never forget your first laser love. , That's why I just had...

    Hughes He-Ne ?

I got these off of e-bay today and tried to research them as much as possible, (which wasn't much) even Sam's does not list them. Does anybody know anything about them, other then the obvious; <1-2mW, 632.8nm,etc. I know these are ancient. (looks like 1978) What are the odds of these working...

    Just some random pics. :)

I was bored, so I uploaded a few random pics. Pardon me if any of these have been seen before, as I have at the present time >2500 beam shots, it's hard to keep track. :thanks::D

    Video: Fun W/ 510mA LCC

Hello all, Just a little thrown together video of me with one of my Red labbie's. This one is set at 510mA. On this diode, I followed Dave's advice and slowly "ramped" the current up. Ran it for 1 hour at 320mA, then 2 hours at 420, finally bumping it up to 510mA. It has >6 hours run time as of...

Feb. 18 Webcast Reupped/ Don't miss it again.

This is a link to the Ophir-Spiricon webcast on Feb. 18. I was very bummed when I missed this. I had a job that I could not put off. Yes, I've been known to reschedule work to watch a laser show on TV (before we got the DVR):spank: Anyhow Ophir-Spiricon sent me an e-mail with this link...

Soon to be converted 650nm "Gun" laser

I found this little "gun" at a flea market for $2 the "cylinder" rotates to produce different images. Same idea as the 12 tip el-cheapo pointers. I'm thinking of putting a <5mW 532nm in it. Maybe the "cylinder" and trigger will glow yellow:thinking: I already had it apart. Plenty of room in...

"Meatball" Micro Labbie Host heatsink /@Meatball, pics reloaded/

Here's a few pics of the "Meatball" Micro Labbie heatsink I'm making. I've seen a few people asking about heat-sinks for this host. Here's my design of a H/S+fan cooling system. Should keep my 8X nice and cool. As you can see there is plenty of room behind the H/S for the switch & PSU...

    WTB: Small He-Ne PSU

Alright folks, I am still looking for 2 PSU's to power 1007-1709 Uniphase tubes.(not the tube pictured, but same size) The one I bought off of Magnus (Experimentonomen) is just what I needed. But I need 2 more. The smaller the better, as I plan on making a few Mini. He-Ne lamps. PM me or post...

    He-Ne Project box Pics.

I won several He-Ne tubes, PSU's,beam combiners, fiber optics, etc. in a flea-bay auction <$26.00 for all. Had to think of some ways to use them. IE: make them safer,so I don't get the sh#t shocked out of me. Bought a project box and a few other goodies.. The fan is mostly WOW factor, but it...
