I've heard a few things on here about scanners. What are they and what do they do?

I am using a senkat diode. A 10k multiturn pot LM317T + volt Reg 10 OHM resistor 1/2 watt 1N4001 silicone diode 47MFD 35VDC capacitor two CR2032 energizer batteries each rated for 3v, not used before And a momentary switch in between I have an analog multimeter but I cannot get it to work...

How do I measure the power going to the diode (mA I believe) and how much it is emitting (mW)?

I bought some goggles off of there christmas eve and received them the day after christmas, they work flawlessly. Now I am considering buying a stand and some optics... Good/bad decission? And what abotu the lasers they sell?

I have a broken anode and a broken case pin, I have the can opened successfully but have no idea what to do from here, the anode looks too small to solder.... any help?

I was soldering to the pins of my diode and accidentaly broke one off... :'( I cannot get the stump of the old one out and cannot solder a new one on. I am a noob and have no idea what to do in a situation like this. If you need pics I can post them.
