    XML 9T6 "11000Lumen"

First of all the LM317 is a linear regulator and is inefficient and only rated for 1.5A. Id suggest a high current buck driver, i have a 9A version running a PT54 LED and it works well. Second, the LM358 is a OpAmp not a regulator. Thirdly, 9 LED's run at 3A each = 27A draw, at 3A the Vf of...

300mW laser diode - Safety goggles

What driver you using? It has horrible beam specs being a multimode diode, not the best for engraving.

300mW laser diode - Safety goggles

So your installing it into an CNC engraver? Theres no graphs for the glasses so i dont know if they are good at all.

300mW laser diode - Safety goggles

No, its not safe, its more dangerous than visible lasers because you cant see where its pointing exactly and you cannot see reflections, you will get bored of it quickly, you will need IR laser glasses too.

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

Just got 4 of the boards, set one up nice, running from 24VDC and pumping out 3A in CC mode, bugger all heat produced in the driver, installed it onto my garage door motor light terminals for a test and it went BOOOOOM! The input capacitor exploded, retested the supply volts and it was around...

    Cheap automotive HID ballast teardown

great repair job! ive never opened up a HID ballast before, nice to know whats inside :-) I wonder if we could utilize the HV for tesla and HV experiments!

Do you need a driver for 3w UV emitter?

use a amc1735 driver with 2 chips with modes for fun, that will get you 700mA of regulated current

    Cheap DX driver worth it?

it will run the diodes but not at 1400mA, i cant see an inductor on the driver so it cannot boost above a single cell voltage of 4.2V or its drop out voltage, ive done this before and only got ~300mA on high. need a boost driver.

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

She'll be right, the SST50 is quiet tollerent. Thats nice, i could do that but is a bit overkill for me as i have 8x 4" fluro's on the garage lighting circuit :D

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

It will run for 5 minutes, will be doing a bit of testing on it, i bought more than one unit too ;-)

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

Decided to go with a china buck unit, 5-32v it can do 5A max with CC and or CV operation :-)

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

I dont want to run it at the full 5A! that would go over the 15W power limit for the light. The flexmod being a linear drive will be burning up quite alot of current droping 24V to ~3V and produce a bit of heat id imagine. A buck driver would be better but finding one that can handle a...

Garage door motor unit courtesy light upgrade

Good Hello, So i just moved into a new house and i have this courtesy light on my garage door motor. The hole unit runs off 24VDC and so does the courtesy light, the factory fitted incandescent was 15W so im going to stick to that power. here are 2 photos of the unit: Now the current off...
