REVIEW Laserbee 2.5W USB LPM

Hey guys, so I got my new LPM today and here is a little review on it. I was gonna do pictures but changed my mind and did a video instead. :undecided:
I bought it on Monday and got the shipping info not even an hour later. It was shipped on tuesday and got it this morning. This meter costs $119.99CAD + shipping

What is on the disc. (I transfered it onto a flash drive to put it on my laptop)

If you are thinking of selling lasers a LPM is a must IMO and this one is a great option.

That explains the "ramp-up" at the beginning. Once the response time has been overcome, it should level out (unless it was still "ramping up" at the end of the test ;) )

Hey Dave....

yes... I am totally aware of this....;)

As I stated in the Sales thread... the Response time is slow due to
the large thermal mass of the 15mm X 15mm sensor...
And the only reason we are selling such a slow response LPM is
because we saw that the slow response time of the Alpha LPM did
not seem to phase the buyers... due to the price...

We had originally designed a Laser Power Meter almost 3 years ago
with a similar large surface and slow response sensor but decided
against it at that time.

The large thermal mass of the sensor will reach equilibrium... but it
takes a bit of time as you saw in the video...

We could use one of our manufactured Sensor but it would increase
the cost of the LaserBee 2.5Watt USB.

When the test was shut down and even if the reading would go up by
another 1 or 3mW... that would only be a difference of ~0.4% on the
741mW reading.

I would assume if a buyer needed a more accurate and faster response
time LPM they would go for one of our higher end LaserBee products..
or even a Lab quality LPM if even higher precision is required.

Have you considered modifying the code to correct the slow response time to a laser? You might be able to significantly increase performance with just a bit of algebra. :)

Nice job.... As a recent Laserbee II owner myself I'm slightly past due a review of my own, although I know what I've recently acquired isn't new to this forum overall. Thank you for covering this information on the LB2.5 :beer: +1
