Also just so you know...mentioning the origin of the 445nm diodes is widely considered a no no on this forum. Its an easy mistake but I would advise editing your post to not include mention of that electronics brand.
 





Wow. I swore I wasn't going to buy one of those #100s but after seeing the numbers posted so far I may have to. If I do I may have to snag a couple of those 3v tenergy batteries you guys keep mentioning. I suspect the "Juice" brand that came with my 445 aren't the best. Although when I measured it against a fully charged AW I got the same results (within a mw or so) so maybe it is okay. Too bad I need to get the parts to finish my 12x 405 and my 1+W 445 before I can even consider one of these. Now I really wish there was a way to make these focusable. Although I just had an idea.... :whistle:

Mine is putting out a ton more with a 3.6v than the 3.v panasonic it came with.
 
Yeah while the 3v panasonic is a good battery it sucks for these. With rechargeable LiiOns the x.y voltage is basically the dead voltage. A fully charged 3v should be around 3.6v and a 3.6/3.7v should be around 4.2v. I think the 3.2v LiPOs are 3.6v at full charge too. Could be wrong though since I've never had any of that type.

That's cool. Ok, I have a ultrafire protected 3.6v 880mAh. I wonder how low the voltage would have to drop for the battery's circuit to cut out the power completely? I guess I could look it up myself, but if you already have a rough idea, it would be nice.

depends on the driver. Once the voltage drops below the threshold of the driver it will shut off.

Yep, that's true, but I'm just curious how low the voltage has to drop before the driver shuts off the battery. The reason I'm curious is, should I expect the laser to stay at a pretty high power then shut off? (while still at a decent power level) or should I use the laser for a little bit at a time, then swap out for a freshly charged one. Should I allow the battery to drain to the point that the battery's "circuit breaker" shuts it down? or would the lasers milliwatts be so low at that point that I would have changed batteries a long time ago?

btw, this protected battery also say on it no "memory effect" That tells me It shouldn't matter how far it's been discharged when I plug it back into the charger.
I'm still wondering though if my laser is going to have pretty high power when the protected battery discharge protection kicks in.

Long question short, how often should I swap out the batteries with these protected cells?

I know that in this link they are referring to an 18650, but it gives me a rough idea that the battery would be waaaaay down in voltage before the discharge protection turns it off.

The quickest way to kill a li-ion is to discharge it all the way. Whether protected cells will stop this I am unsure as I never dare to fully drain mine. Ive had good luck just using them for awhile and then using a multimeter to test the drop making sure to always keep them topped off.

FYI, the little #100 is too fun -- we spent most of last night with it aimed at a black cashew-can lid and watching the melt-reflection on the ceiling; who needs TV! It ran for ~5 mins per run before starting to dim, and never really got noticeably hot.

He WILL ship to Canada for FREE from China or for $12 extra via USPS Priority Mail from the USA. Personally I'd pay the $12 and get it shipped from USA so that it doesn't take 4-8 weeks to arrive from China.

He told me to share his contact info with interested members. It wasn't clear if he wanted me to share this info publicly on the forum so for now just PM me for his contact info. I will get clarification on this and/or see if I can get him to introduce himself in the "Companies" section that way people don't have to PM me and wait.

Darn, I just ordered one for $28. Oh well, still a bargain! Thanks for getting the forum deal though.

On another note, I've been in contact with emall2011 and he's interested in getting a LPM so he can test the lasers he sells on eekbay. His 532s are overspec too. See this thread for an output plot.
