I bought a bunch of 2xAAA red lasers on ebay awhile back. They arrived and half of them dont work. They dont work because the buttons are not aligned with the actual switch on the driver so they dont click. The diodes and drivers should be just fine.

I have no use for these and dont want to try to fix them but instead of throwing them out I thought id see if anyone else had something to use them for.

I probably have a dozen or maybe more. SO who ever has the coolest idea for them and is willing to post pictures of the build and final product can have them for the price of postage.

Red pointers are the easiest way to make 635nm lasers. Or you can make a whole rainbow with pointers. :umbrella:

I am working on a laser speaker system with a red laser I got for like 4 dollars. I will post pics when I am done, but if you are interested in trying it it is really easy.

I dunno if I'd recommend building a DDL driver for a 5-7mw laser pointer unless you like to punish yourself. :eg: I mainly did it because I wanted to see if I could and I couldn't see spending $23 on a driver for a $4 5mw diode. I have no idea why the first picture in the thread doesn't show up but works fine if you click it. It used to show up fine.

got any pics/specs on these lasers?
i might want one

They are just cheap reds that run on 2 AAA batteries. Im not really looking to just distribute them individually. I was hoping someone would have some creative project to use them for...but maybe not

Im surprised no one is interested in doing something with them

Heres what they look like minus the windows paint laser beam

I had one of those. Mine had the same failure. It's button is loose and doesn't work unless you squeeze the piss out of it. Not worth repairing.

I'll take them and use them in a project. Most of my lasers are used in projects. Not sure of the project yet because I dont have the lasers in hand, but I will definitely use them. I might use them in a knife edging project, or some optical contraption.

^^^ you will have to do better than that T--- I think you are too late anyway BRaHHHAAAAHaHa-
junk box goes Monday-
PS2 stuff for you inside--

LOL What are you going to do with some junk red pens, besides fixing and selling them? I dont even have a red laser, believe it or not.

Thank you Len, I'll keep an eye out for it this week.

They might be worth fixing. I got some of them, most were between 25-27mW!! Only one was under 10mW.

Here is my prototype six pointer R/G/BR lumia wheel-My glass got broken- making a new one.(12 pieces JB Welded together- 4 different kinds of glass.) I place my fingers on the pointer buttons and can 'play' them to go with the music. I used leather coasters to avoid scratching any more pointers- I think I can squeeze two more in there but its a tight fit- this is my third prototype-
