It's best to get rated, certified eye protection. With discount eye protection you might put your eyes in compromise. Damage can be permanent. Don't take a chance with your eyes. You only get two..... Bill

Certified or not, if they work, then they work :p It's like name brand vs. store brand. Sometimes cheaper is just as good. However, of course, I wouldn't use them until they are extensively tested to see what they actually can handle.

You can always try to cut costs on safety, but that's nearly always cutting on safety. It's not the fancy red color that makes real laser safety eyewear expensive, it's the fact that it is tested and guaranteed to be able to take lots of power without losing it's protection. Cheap stuff is unpredictible even when is happens to work, and thus unsafe.

I mean, safety might even seem redundant for any price until it goes wrong...

I would obviously exercise caution but I mean if you're a small level hobbyist playing with maybe a 100mW laser I'm sure these would be fine. And obviously also at least test it out on a wall or something to see how much of the light from the laser is removed before using them... It's just a solid price for some glasses! I'll let you guys know how good they are when I get them
 
After looking at the eBay sellers feedback about these glasses, I would not get these for RED LASERS, GREEN seems OK though.

Item-based Feedback: laserlands (Seller)
WAIT 20 SECONDS for page to load as it searches the sellers feedback for the keyword 'glasses'

Some of the bad feedback in regards to RED laser glasses:
"goggles are not very effective, does not block enough light"
"NOT COMPLETE protection / absorption"
"50% of red laser light passes thru so no real safety"

Bur the feedback for the GREEN laser glasses seems to be all positive.
 
Obviously you would not get them for red lasers. They work for green, blue, and 405nm lasers. Red laser glasses have blue lenses.
 
Those work, and I've used them for 445nm as well. They're uncomfortable, don't fit well, and block almost too much light of green... but they will work. Better than nothing.
