I have a question concerning the SDLaser. 18650 batteries are, by definition, 65mm long. I have some 68mm 18650 (protected). Will they fit the laser without problems ?

Thanks !

It will function, but the tail cap will only thread about half way on. I have a protected cell that comes in at 68.8mm and I can get it threaded about half way, or a little less before it becomes too tight (even at 68mm exactly I don't think it will thread down fully). You need to run unprotected cells in the SD Laser 301. The good thing is that DX gives you one with the laser, so even if you don't already have one you will be set.

now that's someone with standard! i adore you cistercian

WHY SPEND $200 ON A LPM WHEN U CAN INVEST IT IN A BETTER, QUALITY LASER KNOWING THAT THE LASER WILL BE OVERSPECED.... THAT'S WHAT I DID AND I END UP GETTING A CNI... ;)

Thank you.My customers love me too..which in my business says a lot.Good customer service is increasingly rare these days.Robots answering the the phones?Obviously they care more for the bottom line than service. It is epidemic. The only solution is to punish the miscreants, by taking your money somewhere else!
Those who say "be patient, they are busy" are only enabling the poor performance.Demand better, it is just that simple!

I ordered the RF532-100mW-B03 about 2 days ago. I hope I dont end up with the same problems you had. That would be a real pain to have to deal with. I bet she'll tell me the output was 110mW. It seems like a lot of ppl are told that its 10mW above the rated value, including this case, with the underspec 200mW laser. Should I ask for a pic of the power reading before it is shipped?

I could sell you my 130mw laser and showyou a pic of my lpm showing 650mW. The pic does not have to be of the laser they are actually sending you.

Beam Shots(night and daytime), other burning tests (like the usual matches, duct tape and baloons) and from different distances, information about the room temperature during the tests, if the beam comes out straight ( some buyers have complained that the beam doesn't come out really straight) are some of the tests you could do with de SDLaser if you want to

I'm just asking you a favor and giving you suggestions. =)

Thanks !

I am still waiting to hear anything from Faona. No response so far after the first email I posted here, where she requested me to send the laser back to her on my dime. (I am a little afraid that I'd lose my shipping money and they'd keep the laser, with nothing I can do about it). Even if they did send a new laser, I don't want to pay the shipping charges.

I emailed again today, and hopefully will get a response.

Faona,

Do you wish to pay for return shipping on the laser to replace the laser with one that meets specifications?

Would you prefer to refund my money for the laser, plus the return shipping costs to get it back to you?

If you plan on doing neither, please just tell me.

Thanks!

Another suggestion is: how much of the output is IR. You can try to get an estimative puting goggles between the laser and the LPM.
Well, sorry for asking all this things.

Thanks for the review (once more)

In the daytime you can't see the beam. (not enough smog here)

I have white matches from a common matchbook. It won't fire the white or smoke them. I also have common house matches, red head with a wood stick. It will make smoke come off of them, but I don't remember if it has ever fired one before (I don't think it was able).

Between 70-75 degrees F.

I will try balloons and tape by your special request, after I get some new safety glasses for 532.

Mine appears to be straight, but with inexpensive, Chinese electronics I don't know if you can count on them all being alike.

Will do.

I've requested that a moderator clean up all the garbage in this thread. I'd like to keep it on topic and between oikos and souljasai it has been derailed with great success. Guys, please take the off topic crap to a different thread.

Faona asks WHY I claim that Rayfoss lied to me...

Well, let me think about that for a moment.. Well, Because she lied. Pretty easy huh? ...about the power output of the laser and about installing an IR filter. I get 130mW stable, she claims 210. I can understand a difference of less than 5mW between meters, but not an 80mW difference. She says that an IR filter was installed, and there was none. She claims that a battery and charger were shipped with the laser (or atleast a battery, as she says) and there was none. Pretty simple IMO.

As for why I post it here rather than keeping it between myself and Rayfoss... It is a public service for the community of laser enthusiasts. A warning to others who may be interested in portable laser products. All in hopes of helping other enthusiasts have a more enjoyable, trouble free lasering experience.

Personally, I do not want to take any risks here in dealing with Rayfoss further. I am going to simply post it for sale with an honest description, cut my losses and move on.

"Mik,

Please udnerstand:-
We would refund customer in first 3 days after you receiving the item and return it in its initial status.
We would exchange a new item or repair the laser for you after our engineer inspection to assure the laser has not been abused in the first 3 month after you buying.
Both options Rayfoss will bear single shipping fee. As all of our items have been tested well before shipping to customers.

And we noticed you have concluded Rayfoss has lied you...why not contact us on the problem you met for a solution before you set such kind hurting and rootless conclusion? Are you our competitor? We really can not understand your dealing method...

My reply:

Faona,

I don't have much faith in Rayfoss at this point, and I don't want to risk sending my underspec laser back to you before you provide me with any form of compensation. I feel that for me, it is a safer and more efficient option to sell the underspec laser on the LPF marketplace and cut my losses right now.

Thank you for your reply.

She cheated me just like she did to you!!! Sorry for not reading, but was it the Waterproof 200mW green laser that you bought from rayfoss? Thats what I bought, and she claimed that it would be 210mW and that it would light matches easily, and it smokes the match at best, not only that, when I bought another laser from them, it was also falsely underspec
