Bought this off fleabay for $25 including shipping.

It was in like new condition, and fired right up off 3 10440 batteries. Small sticker says 1.13mW, and came with instruction to hook it up CW, or TTL.

I was going to use it for a lamp, but its not that bright. The center glass tube radiates, but there is no plasma glow in the larger tube. Not sure if this is the way it is supposed to be. Anywho, I think it will make a nice ray gun prop. I'll post pictures of either project when done.

I recommend this if you are looking for a cheap, small 650nm HeNe.

Shipping was super fast, and came insured and tracked.

That is how it is supposed to work. The "glow" you see in pictures in the area of the tube NOT in the central plasma tube is usually just an artifact of over-saturation in the camera.

It really should only produce light down the center channel and out the end ;)

Are you happy with it even tho its too dim for a lamp?

It is plenty bright for an accent lamp (or bright night light).

If you're looking to actually light your way, turn on the light ;)

Peace,

Cool, thanks for the info men. Hell yeah, I love it. I didnt make the mistake of touching the anode yet LOL. I did do my homework :yh:.

If I had the spare cash, I'd buy another.

Cool, these little tubes are fun to look at. I've been trying to find a nice enclosure for mine, probably a plexiglas tube or box, so that I can make some sort of display with it.
Welcome to the gassy side, sir!

I think I'm going to use mine for a ray gun build. I've been lurking on a steampunk forum for about 2 months and they have all kids insane ray gun mods. But ironically none have lasers. I think having the small tube at the end of the barrel will be wicked. Did I just say wicked? :spank:

Dont hold your breath lol. All projects are on hold, and I might disappear for a short time. My GF's mom gave us a good chuck of cheese to buy a condo, and we did. Finally out of this hell hole, and with room enough for my own private laboratory. :eg:

You're not going to be gone for to long right? Won't be the same without ya

A few weeks to a month maybe. I need a break anyway. If you guys have not notice, I've been a little insane for the past month or so. Its not easy buying property, even my girl is on edge. So wrap that up with my daily problems, and I'm ready to tear someones head off. After I get settled you'll see the new me. Well, a calmer one anyway. :eg:
