The way I see it is like the Admin/Mods on the Forum here...
They can't possibly read ALL the posts and get their heads around
ALL the info and jabber that goes on here...
They depend on the Members to give them a Heads-Up..

On eBay with the Millions of listings that get placed all over the Globe
every week... They can't possibly Read and have the Technical expertise
to know which Seller is exaggerating in his description...
It is up to the more Knowledgeable eBay Members to give them a Head-Up..

Here is part of what they responded when I contacted them.....

Thanks for letting us know about a listing or seller you'd like us to
investigate for potential fraudulent activity. eBay is very concerned
about this type of activity. We'll review your report as soon as
possible, usually within 72 hours.

And they took care of it right away....

So instead of bitching about the Fraudulent Listings on eBay..
do something about it like I did... It's easy to complain with your
hands in your pockets...

Oh I have been in a few ebay flame wars myself.

One time I bought a CD off a guy, when it arrived it was a "burned on the PC" CD, it was not as described, I was expecting a genuine radio promo disc.

The doucher that sold it to me was forced to refund my money, then he got all pissed off and started attacking my listings.

Thanks for caring about those less informed.
I have never reported a listing, thinking it would be of no consequence.

Like reporting a software glitch to Microsoft.= pissing in the wind.
Now that I know it works, (thanks to you), I will start doing this also.
The He-Ne listed in the Toy section really got to me.
I wrote the seller but he did not remove/change the listing. Some people have no morals evidently.

(and don't care if they hurt or kill a child, as long as they make money)
+1 to you for caring and doing something about it., I'd give you +1000 if I could.

.....

This is right, and, same as i do here, when i see a post that is clearly spam, i send a report ..... and sometimes i've done it also on ebay, when i see clear fraud trials (like when someone post an auction saying a lot of bs, and state that he tried and certify them :p) ..... But only when there's no doubt, or at least very few ones, that the thing is intentional .....

That what i mean, is ..... how can be recognized, with no doubts, that a post is a fraud / scam / intentionally bad, from instead, as example, someone that post something wrong just cause he don't know anything about what he's speaking ? ..... just keeping the same auctioner as example, i've seen that the rest of his auctions was just trees / bonsai ..... what can say me that all the posted bs about the expander (that are ofcourse evidents for us, cause we're in this hobby), are instead just posted from him for just not knowing what he was writing ?

BTW, i agree if you say me that, regardless this fact, one can always do some researches, before post these things ..... this is implicit ..... i'm wondering only about intentional fraudulent conduct, against involuntary one .....

EDIT:

What cheesed me off on this one more that the others...
was the fact that it was an LPF Member....
It looks like he only joined LPF to sell his crap...

Oh, seen this just now ..... so, it seem more intentional, than casual (or, at least, it seem someone that had to know what he was typing, being in the hobby, too :p)

He's a Scammer or he's just an "expert in his own mind" and believes
what he wrote...
Either way it is not right to dupe the unknowing public...Anywhere...

Damn. I didn't even think eBay would respond to that as a fraudulent listing.

Good to know I guess; there are certain sellers out there who I *know* know, for example, that their GreeNe's dont actually do 5mW, but go off the CDRH listing sticker to find a sucker..

-- I know a lot of folks don't know any better, but certain sellers, especially when they say something along the lines of "5mW 543nm - but can be tuned to do more!" ... BS.

I don't think this guy actually believed the line, because on his LPF ad, he didn't state the "12000mW" junk.
