I got a couple of the small red diodes from the Pioner 8X and 12X sleds. the problem was I had no way to mount them to gtest them. With help I found out that SightFX had made a few of them. I PM'd to order a couple. Ryan is VERY busy traveling so I was resigned to waiting for them for awhile. Instead, he sent me his personal ones so I could get to work while he will make new ones when he settles down again.

I will probably get some testing on these little red's before Christmas now ;)

Peace,
dave

Thanks Dave =D

If the heat these produce is lower than the 5.6 ones we may see some µ-Pointer here xD

they may be, the one i played with did very well at 350mA in it original heatsink...took it about 10 seconds to heat up to a nice temp...i would say they are about the same, or a little better with heat than LOC..thats a wild guess though.

You should have PM me and asked to make you one of these Dave I just made this "test Heatsink" a couple nights ago for testing a bunch of GGWs. it's made of brass and functions much like a meridith module but no lens threds it has a tapered hole on the other side to let the photons out so you can meter them, on the diode side you put your diode in a pocketed hole and screw a retaining block down onto the back of the diode die it makes checking all diodes much easer and safer.

Thanks for the offer. However, if these work out (that is if I don't kill them), then they will go directly into a laser. I don't know enough about these little diodes to feel comfortable with mounting and de-mounting them.

Have you tested these at all dave? From my little experience and 0 data collection (lol) i gathered that they were comparable to the red diodes we use now.

i'm would see about getting modules made, but i already know it would cost me around $15 ea. to produce with the guy i go to....he does it all by hand, so he can't really compete with a CNC machine shop, or someone with their own mini-lathe
