$1.92 Million for downloading 24 Copyrighted songs.

The RIAA should go to hell. I don't condone illegal downloads but the RIAA is part of the problem too. There is too much crappy music out there that is way overpriced.

I read about that case a couple days ago on slashdot...
there is now a anonymous torrent, you just have to keep a good up/down ratio. i cant remember what is called but im sure i can find it again.

Me... Personally.. i dont use torrents. i use a secret backdoor to everybodys index pages in google. :na: then i just "save as" ..... Funny thing is.. Its all in the search terms

Google Rox

I know some people have moved to encrypted transfers with torrents to hide their IP. The RIAA has been monitoring torrents and other file sharing programs like Limewire for years. The seed the torrent like everyone else and keep track of the IPs that download. This why they always have numbers on how much music was stolen. The RIAA needs to change it's business model if it is going to survive.

Here is a question for everyone ...

I have about 50 cds that I have purchased over the last 20 years that have either been lost or damaged. Do I pay for these songs again or should I just download the free torrents?

I'm fairly sure in that case your actions are justified. All you would have to do is prove you actually own the original CD's (if you were ever even caught, which is quite unlikely).

In the eyes of the RIAA i dont think that would matter.. im sure that they would say that you need to buy separate copies. almost all cds today say do not duplicate.. or has some kinda copyright protection. I dont think they even like the fact that people are to making burnt copies of what they have legally purchased.

It's your's

You payed for the music once, why should you pay for it again ? just because the medium it was on is lost dose not mean the music is lost.
you bought it ! it's yours !!!!!!

Peace Pyro... :eg:

totally agreed.

Also, I think singers should earn money in concerts and not by sellings CDS. why should they earn money for years because they worked once?

Albert

Do proxies really protect you in USA? If the police wants to know who you are they can easyly trace your IP, no matter how many proxies are you using...
