Hey all, it's been a long time coming, this has been on my list for years. Finally taking the opportunity to brag share the 577nm that showed up at my door a couple hours ago. I absolutely love it. I'm usually not one to typically chase high power - sure I have a few 1W+ powered diodes - but this still absolutely blows everything else out of the water. This is the brightest laser I have ever seen. It's so bright that I don't even really know how I'm going to get good pictures out of this. It really is no exaggeration at how bright this thing really us at full power, there is no distance I can put myself (at least at home) from the spot where it doesn't hurt to look at.

For context, this is one of Coherent's Ophthalmic heads that made its way onto ebay. Somehow it's not the most expensive laser purchase I've made although it is the second most expensive...

Anyway, some slightly rough pics since I can't resist sharing. I'll be getting with my photography buddy within the next couple weeks to take better pics and will absolutely share when it happens. For now, have some (color corrected) pics. I want to start off by showing the entire head, which is about 5 times as heavy as I expected:

Not that it matters, still fires up

Divergence is phenominal: 5mm at aperture, 7mm at 25 feet - roughly 0.3 mrad!

And for those who need more yellow in their lives, a dump of pics to drool over:

I took these after midnight hoping the cops wouldn't come...

Some new stuff. Visible on the tree on the other side of the valley...

And on the clouds.

If you have had 589nm before, this is a pretty good color comparison

And another comparison of 559, 570, 577, 589, 607, 635

See here for more!

Omg drool!!!!!
If you ever decide to sell that beauty.... wow! I know the rgb monitor screen can never recreate the wavelength, but it looks so much more yellow than my 571nm.

That is one of the most spectacular beams I've ever seen. What a beautiful laser my friend, looks good to go for CW operation with a blower too.
Congratulations!

I have run this at idle side by side against my 571nm, there's more of color difference than I expected -- 571 turns into a pale green while 577 stays true yellow. Doubt I'll ever sell it though :)

That is an amazing color. The yellow to golden yellow wavelengths have got to be my favorite part of the spectrum.

Awesome find/get (y)
Great yellow wavelength, outstanding high quality laser.
To find a 2W yellow at a price that doesn't break the bank unusual.
Thanks for the great photos.
Post more photos when you have a chance to do some.

Ok you’ve made a dream come true. Now please do one experiment for me since I never will be able. Mix it with a couple of watts of 445nm and post a picture of the resulting white. I had wanted to lights a room like that by expanding the white on the ceiling at a selem event.

if you dare….can you see it on the clouds?

can you post a mid day sun shot of the beam. You should be able to see as well as at night.

Will wait for a cloudy night! As for daytime, my camera doesn't pick up the beam well. While I can just barely see it myself if aimed toward me, my camera can't at all. Kind of surprising, this seems like it's a lot more visible at night than it is at day...

Great bro! Where did you got it?
I bought it from ebay, https://www.ebay.com/itm/394077566207

I had a 36mw 575nm I could see on a tree trunk in daylight from 1/4 mile. The beam was visible as well. Maybe it was a slightly foggy summer day.
