Hey guys, i just received 3 of these drivers.

I want to use them with NUBM44 but i want to make them work only in the max current... Is it possible to happen?
Yes, it will work just fine. Just don't keep it on the Turbo setting for more than around 10 seconds to be safe.

@Shmackitup how exactly can i avoid all the lower settings and go straight to the max 5A? It s the first time i m using drivers with multiple modes... I m using a host with a tailcap switch only.

This driver has a memory for the Moon, Low, Med & High modes. However, Turbo and Strobe are special features so you'll have to double-press or triple press to get to those modes. It's a safety feature that will help protect the diode and driver from overheating accidentally.

Hi Pados
you should of went for 1 mode xhp70 6v driver if you wanted to avoid lower settings instead of multi mode . modes are in firmware of driver intended for flashlight mods.
these cree xhp70 6v drivers have output specs that work fine with nubm44 1 mode now set at 5A

I have not found another driver that actually outputs 5A as stated. I have tested quite a few and most come in around the 3A range.

Hi Shmack

these 4.5A 1 mode are pretty robust,
have to play around,do some experimenting with 2 parallel R120 sense resistors to set at desired output
I have 1 at 4.8A and 1 at 5A working just fine.
can give you specific values if u want, just say as I have to take it apart to check ;)

took it apart anyway

actually 5.2A
res 1Ω and 40mΩ in this case cheers

@nmbusa this driver is the only one that had this kind of output current, in normal diameter, I think... So if i want to make this driver go for the max current what should i do to achieve this?

So the Turbo mode works with the delay between the switch clicks? I don't mind if i ll have to just double press!

Finally i used my Astral superdrive v! I tested the P4000 and i was able to get up to 4.5A... However the modes are a little tricky so i quit!

Hello. I bought 3 of these drivers and am interested to see how they perform. Does anyone have experience with them?

Thanks. Apparently they improved them. Because they used to have problems and damage the diodes. Probably old info. I will use them for NUBM0F. I think they will do well with him.

I've been using them for many years and never had one damage a diode. I've used and sold hundreds at this point and there may have only been a single bad one in that time that I know about. The older versions had a problem where the induction coil could get pulled up easily and sometimes broken off if handled carelessly but they have since used a better glue to hold them down. There's 2 variants, one with 4 modes + 2 hidden modes (Turbo & Strobe) and the one you have which is 1 mode with 2 hidden modes. The 1 mode version was created per my request a few years ago.

Thanks for the reply. I will be testing them very soon
