Hello everyone,

So I am trying to build a 7 watt NUB44 V2 laser pen.

With my calculation in price, it seems this eBay Ad is selling pretty much the same build cost all ready to be bought and build:

You think this is a good buy?

What is the laser driver and laser diode model? Has anyone bought this particular laser pen from this seller before?

Have any recommendation of any other builds I should rather follow?

Thanks.

I bought this device about a month ago, and got it after about one week delivered to Vienna, Austria! I'm VERY happy with it, Optical Output with the lens provided ~6,2W, without lens ~7W.

Today I finished my first NUBM31T build, this array is insane...

Hi! That's my ebay store. Let me know if you have any other questions. I can do discounts outside of ebay since they take 10% off the top.

It uses the P4K driver I sell which outputs around 5 amp on the Turbo setting. It's very stable and I've been using them for a couple years now with really good results.

Paid a total of: $272.13.

Is there any reason I should not buy this and rather build my own and would get a much better product?
To me it seems like this premade laser from eBay costs very close to a DIY build for a 7watt NUM44 V2 laser pen.

I couldn't find any DIY build with complete parts list and tutorial for a 7watt NUM44 V2 laser pen.

Thanks.

Well the only thing which worries me is the driver, I haven't seen anyone discussing about it for their 7 watt NUM44 V2 laser build, I just bought the laser from your eBay store just few mins ago... hope I can shoot clouds in the night with a nice laser beam ;).

Should of read your comment before making the purchases, could've saved 10%... its no biggie, I like eBay.

You will be more then happy with the device, as I said: I own it for about 3 weeks now and I compared it against my collection of 1-3,5W output "pointers". Also I own a few laser engravers (Laserpecker, Neje, Wainlux, Daja) with which I compared it. Here I think the optics will play a big role in terms of what output characteristic and quality to expect...
To sum it up, I think the 7W device from Zach is one, if not THE best high powered single diode "pointer" device you could probably get! It has a good and nice looking host, and all should be easy serviceable. The NUBM44 is as far as I know the strongest single diode "easily" available at the moment!
The driver board is also very nice, it offers different modes and memorizes the last used one. One funny note: As I got the device and first used it (burning a little mark in my wooden drawer 5m away; this was INTENTIONALLY of course ;)), I was very impressed with the output power, and thought that this already has been "full power". Only to find out later (after rereading the available info), that the "highest" output mode is switched on only with a double -press of the button... What should I say, the drawer got a second one, but even bigger, "branding"... just seconds after my finding...

So @zach: Thank you very much for this fantastic "engraver"!!

For all others in the search of a really nice high(est) powered device: Get this one, you wont regret it!!

In regard to my M31 build: It is not very advanced now, rather proof of concept!! But it will improve soon, mainly in regard to proper cooling and handling... I also have a Osram PLPM4L here, which has only 3 of the 4 lines working... A new one is just underway! From my first impressions the PLP seems to have a tighter beam profile as the M31, but keep in mind this judgement is based on a 3 of 4 rows working PLP...
Next steps would be the design of better mount and cooling, so that I can go "full power" without burning the array within seconds... Maybe 3D Print some parts...

if your gonna use P4K driver pics from kaidomain.com and mark the ebay price up 300% you could at least take your own photos

That's not where I buy them from but that's not a bad price. I guess I make enough to pay you to take some pics for me! Also, I have them in stock and ship within 24 hours. You'll wait 4 to 8 weeks to get them from China.

maybe they're not the same as yours is the "k" version and has better specs, weight 2g vs 3g and 22AWG Silicone Wire which justifies price diff

5-6 mode 6v buck drivers are a matter of preference for high power builds as 1 mode alternatives are also available ranging from 4A to 5.5A

I think that any decent driver is worth a try. The particular one that you mention in your thread is also sold on Bennet's ebay site and Google store. Also given the fact that drivers are hard to come by right now, I think that this option is ok. Ask Bennet as he has a consumer question line on his site.

I just got it in the mail. Seems well built and quality laser pointer. All I need now is a battery. Have any recommendations for what kind of battery I should get?
Amazon or eBay links would be nice.
