What to do with accidental purchase??? 1600mW 450nm?

My heart just started pounding when I noticed money missing on my account.

I quickly checked the transactions, then my e-mail and I saw why.

I had Thor M2 in my cart and I accidentally bought it while buying dual slot battery charger...

It's cost me aroud 50$, it's shipped already so I have no idea what to do with that thing?
Dish out 70-80$ more for goggles and keep it?
Wait for it and return it and pay shipping back more than half the price of laser?
Just break it as I won't use it without glasses?

This thing is 1600mW 450nm blue, and I don't have goggles for that.
Only comforting thing is that it'll take a while to arrive here, so I might have spare cash for goggles by then.

I don't understand you. Also just message them and ask for a refund before they actually do ship it. Ever considered that?

IF you value your eyesight you will STUDY -
search this forum--& go and read (lots to see there) at Patrick's site laserpointersafety.com.

and at my LSO tutorial.
EVERY question will be answered if you read enough.
Get medium priced eye protection for 'blue' lasers-- and later if you want--sell the laser w/ the glasses.
no need to use it around unprotected eyes- or where there are ANY mirrors/windows or other reflective surfaces.
Keep the beam a meter or so over head or below your knees,
only horizontal beams in those places can be considered to be extreme danger.
From the side beams-- are safe
looking 'down' the beam is also not a big deal.
BUT looking AT the laser is what you need to avoid.
AND looking at the dot 'up close' can be bad-if you look too long-
These are NOT TOYS- never leave where there are children or anyone with no knowledge on laser safety.

ALWAYS treat lasers just like firearms.

IF you think you have been injured-- the forum is not able to help in any way except to tell you to see an EYE Doctor.

get eye protection- be careful and later if you want, sell the laser w/ goggles--the glasses/goggles are marked on the frames or near to top of the lens..called the OD.
the two numbers there are what wavelengths are covered and max power.
IF you get some w/ no info on them---you got robbed.

My friend, problem is that I didn't realize I got it until they sent the parcel.

And idea of breaking it came because I have nobody to sell it to, and I sure won't use that without eye protection as I said up there.

I did message the seller and I already know what will be the response - send it back, and pay the shipping back... I used to work at webshop zendesk so I know a thing or two.

I decided that I'll just pack a laser in some kind of box or case or something, and save it somewhere not easy to find. Then I'll wait till I can afford to get these:

IDK why is font so large when I paste... anyways these are OD4 level and do cover 450nm like this laser is.
Price is $60 without the shipping, so a budget of east european student is going to feel that lol.

For 1.6w Thor and one other similar laser that I have I use orange glasses from Banggood. They only cost 20 dollars, so that shouldn't hurt your purse too much. Just paste "445nm blue-violet Laer Protective Goggles OD4+ 200-540nm Eye Protection Safety Glasses Orange" on Banggood and they should pop up.

Thanks for the advice, but I will rather wait some time till I get money and goggles from Laser Survival or somewhere similar, as they are kinda more reputable, and I am very paranoid.

Laser can wait to be used.

Oh yeah dude totally keep it and just follow the excellent safety advice above. You can do all sorts of cool stuff with a 1.6 watt - pop balloons, burn holes in wood and boxes. Just be safe and enjoy!

To understand how powerful 1600mw can do you can pop a balloon with a 50mw laser as long as the balloon is dark enough and the laser is focused to a point. I was able to lite someone's cigarette with a 100mw 660nm laser. It took like around 30 seconds but it did it.

I think that 1600mW is an overkill for me hahaha.

Oh ya 1.6 watts is sweet although you’ll soon be hungry for more my 6 watt will easily light paper and cardboard on fire

you should be able to find some affordable yet effective glasses. I have a couple pair of red ones with side shields and I think at least one set came free with one of my lasers. You shouldn’t have to break the bank

Your @ll spoiled. I remember when 100mw was a lot. 6w was a three phase 8’ long water cooled monster.
