520 nm and 525nm are both direct diode --not DPSS

Violet is OK if you have no need for much visibility.--- At same output power and beam profile--532nm is about 10X visually brighter than 450nm which is 10X brighter than 405nm so...

cool, i'll have a look at those 520 and 525 see what i can get :D
I'm aware of violet is alot less visible to human eyes, but higher output capability might compensate for that. I used to handle a guys 500mw violet and the beam is quite solid. beside, that's my favorite color :giggle:

A 20mW green is brighter than a 1W violet

Are you sure? Because the one i handled, beam was solid, almost burn my toe shining it on my feet though. I could be wrong, it might be more than 500mw without him knowing. Or better yet, it might be actually a blue?
I found on ebay some 520 and 525nm direct diode with decent power (0.5 - 1W) which i really like but the price is kinda steep for my financial. Might have to save it for later.

That " A 20mW green is brighter than a 1W violet " is true but a bit misleading -- a 20mW 532 is 3.53 times brighter than a 1W 405nm, a 20mW 532 nm is 2.89 times brighter than a 1W 405nm

Compared to a 500mW 405nm---a 20mW 532nm is 7X brighter visually and a 20mW 520 is 6.38 X brghter visually.

At same output power in mW----- 532nm is 176X visually brighter than a 405nm laser and 520nm is 144X brighter than 405nm.

See: https://slickscreen.github.io/laser-tools/brightness/

I would help if you knew what you were talking about rather than members spending hundreds of dollars of their valuable time on meaningless nothing about your $3.64 garbage laser module you can't come to grips with in any direction--repair, replace, buy something else, same or different wavelength.

Apparently you don't want to or can't purchase something/anything that meets your needs or take any rational action based on best advice--no knowledge, no capability/ability, and no money, is just that---nobody/nothing can help you.
Unfortunately, nothing wth nothing is still nothing, everywhere in the world.

Enough is enough already--at ths point .

Well there's not need for that butt hurt my friend, nobody force you to comment in the first place. In fact i was talking to the other guy, not mentioning you or anything why do you have to all act up like i just drop ants in your bed??? And like i already state i don't feel like bother with "$3.64 garbage" no more, only to compare green vs blue thats all. People comes and type to me and i just casually having conversation with them, if you don't feel like it ignore the thread. And don't worry, i don't going around troll any body. I prefer doing it irl not on the net :D
Btw you might want to check on your '#5' button, hope you didn't smash it too hard in anger of typing your lecture on meh

The only time I've seen what you described is when I've fried the Driver board. which I've done a few times.

The driver board comes on at full power and then because of being left on too long in the past it drops dramatically in power as soon as the driver board heats up at all. just my .02

One of my green dpss laser was doing the same dimming thing after one second. Luckily there was a pot on the driver, after lowering it a little, it doesn't dim anymore. It stays as bright all the time. (Even brighter than before)

Without pot may-be try lower input voltage

i tried 3.3v, 3.8v and 4.2v with the same result. I can't go any lower since that will kill the cell but i think that buck converter ain't gonna work when voltage is lower than 3.2v anw

Now that you mention heat, i notice that the board get pretty hot after 5 seconds. I though it was normal. Something in me want a little advanture to replace the driver with another beffier one :D :D

what?
Can you tell me what youn mean by 'solid' .A Plused laser make a 'dotted' line when moved.
my 1.1W burns well (even at distance)--

--wavelenth is a more correct (for color) and Power (mw or W etc) is what we use and even within close proximity to others can very a LOT. RED/? some 'reds' are 4 or more times more visual brighter than others-- 638 wow nice 660 harder to see??
The more powerful of most any wavelength will be ,of course, more expensive. We meant to ask you about your eye protection..

safety here is # 1. You may need more than one pair of glasses. Some 'cover' more than one Wavelength but those that protect us from all visible lasers are very expensive.

best wishes--Len

Either way it's a pretty silly thing to say

Among the many other silly things said repeatedly countless of times...

let it go dood
back on ignore

I feel really bad for you because I know this covid lockdown is doing a number on you but you have to admit that you're behavior lately has been extremely questionable if not down right inappropriate. Putting me on ignore isn't going to change things.

Can you tell me what youn mean by 'solid' ???cant say I have ever heard that from other..Plused laser make a 'dotted' line when moved.
I wonder about your 500mW 405-- my 1.1W burns well (even at distance)-- but the beam is hatrdly 'visible' even w/ fog-smoke,,
>'brightness' is not exactly a 'scientific term' same with 'color'
you need to ues the right terms if you WANT us to know you have laser smarts--wavelenth is correct (for color) and Power (mw or W etc) is what we use and even within close proximity to others can very a LOT. RED/? some 'reds' are 4 or more times more visual brighter than others-- 638 wow nice 660 ?? is that all we get.

safety here is # 1.. please take pics and eye protection and post it ASAP.

You may want to make an 'intro' if you plan to stay.
NOT manditory--
just like us,
helping you further is not manditory.
NOBODY owes any thread or conversation these belong to the forum-- if you do not want any posts--take it to PMs.

-look... this is you first day here....................AND had you introduced yourself we MAY have had extra reasons to be helpful actually you got a lot of our time and no much back in the 'thank you' dept.
1) where are your pics...?? cant blame that on your location.

waiting on your intro and pics-

RE: "my 1.1W burns well (even at distance)-- but the beam is hatrdly 'visible' even w/ fog-smoke" From my experience hak 405 is a tricky wavelength it really depends on the individual's eyesight, for instance I can clearly see the beam of my 80mw 405 just fine at night with no fog and normal background city lights.

I understand you...
afaik beams are easier to see from the laser or looking towards the laser--- from the side they are harder to see.
I think it is fairly accurate to say the 405 beam and spot are NOT the easiest to see without fog or smoke.
