I have a tangerine orange HeNe (612nm) but again they are very rare and IF you can find one, it will cost in excess of $500.
it will be less than 5mw though. :)

For a HeNe talk to Sam Goldwasser of Sam's Laser Bible

The only other option other than an RGB laser would be a HeNe, but Im guessing thats gonna be as hard to find as an orange diode itself.
and the ones i do find are ~630nm

RG might be more doable. Maybe chat with cdbeam and/or arcticdude?

Oh dang, I didn't know 607nm labbies existed. Where did you buy that one? That's totally cool.

One would think if there is a DPSS unit, with enough modifications, you could make it portable.

Kvant sells them for a car.... 2.5k ish. If you're lucky you might be able to get a couple bucks off... If you're lucky. I've been told they could do it portable if you provide them the blueprints for the optics and cooling. Doable, but it will likely never happen for this tech.

I think I'm the only one on the forum with one of these. It's neat because there's no IR involved, this is 445nm pumped and you can see some blue if you filter out the orange.

Color wise, RGB gets very close to it. At a glance, you might have a hard time telling a difference even.

Dang, I could buy two cars for that! But it's definitely interesting to know that they exist. How many mW does your unit output?

I do notice you love your exotic wavelengths. In all honesty that would definately be one of my main goals as well. Gotta collect them em' all right? :p

In terms of direct orange diodes, did you happen to know what happened to the research a couple years ago in laserfocusworld's article about 599-605nm diodes being developed?

If they exist it would be an interesting hunt to track one down, even if it's only behind closed doors if you will.

It does 170 ish mW. It's operating in a bad mode so if I went in and realigned it, I could probably squeeze more out of it. But for as much as it cost, I'm very hesitant to do anything to it myself.

The diodes likely never made much progress beyond the lab, the lack of a commercial reason to sell them probably doesn't justify the cost of making them. I forget who but someone here claims to have one. I don't recall seeing any pictures though.

Wow almost 200mW and the potential to improve it. Very nice unit (y)

Thanks for the info. It's good to know at least these diodes should exist. Time to put my tinfoil hat on :D Definitely something to think about...

I'll let you know if I find anything.

Well if you get technical 594’s are orange lasers, they fall within that part of the spectrum.

So a Rigel from Laserglow might fit your needs :)

Yeah unfortunately orange is just not a realistic thing to make into a pointer. That may change in coming years though since the technology now exists to make a DPSS Orange. As mentioned before the only other option would be a very small orange helium neon laser tube. I have a couple of little 6 inch 612s but they are outlandishly rare and expensive. Although they could be conceivably turned into a kind of relatively large and inefficient pointer. It has been done before.

The other option you have is that you could also get a 593.5nm. Which is kind of an amber yellow-orange color.
