If those are actual reproductions of American coins without something showing they are reproduced that can't be legal. I used to collect American stamps and had some quite expensive ones back in the 1980s. Had a Scotts 1 on cover for example. Sold for $1000.00. I can't imagine if this happened to stamp collectors.

I never collected stamps, don't know why I didn't as it's a big and good hobby??
Coins yes though I was a decent collector..
These Chinese coins seem to be for real. Amazon has the buy a pound of wheat pennies and other so called "unsearched" rolls.
Feedback showed re chromed 43 steel pennies, which were never chromed even from the mint, but it seems quite a few people found some "rare" other date ones that had them running to the coin dealers only to find out they were counterfit coming from China.
Yup it a issue and I see no good coming from it.

Yeah, the only coins I collected were silver. I had collected stamps since I was 5 years old. I knew them well and could recite values off the top of my head. The Scott's book is the gold standard for stamp values.

I haven't bought a new Blue Book of coins for years. It's all American coins though or use to be.
I remember watching a episode of My 3 Sons about a year ago. The young kid had a stamp that resembled Wings that a girl hustled him out of it, till the older brother got it back. Can't remember the name but the thing with stamps collecting I would think is International also unless US stamps are the big thing?

I don't know anything about stamp collecting but I know there are some very well crafted counterfeit coins.
Speaking of coins when I used to buy and recycle old cars I always took the core parts, alloy wheels, radiators and thoroughly went through the cars always pulling the back seat and always found coins from the 10's of years of people losing them out of their pockets, nobody knows about that hungry back seat, not for the most part and I took in a lot of coin and I have a collection of coins from around the world just from that, nothing super valuable but some pretty neat coins.

Sounding like an Episode of Pawn Stars in here. 😂

I never took part in collecting things like that, but I love the idea. Pretty cool right?

Yes, Peter stamps from all over the world are collectible, but I only collected US postage stamps and old narcotic stamps that were used in the early 20th century. I had every air postage stamp in mint condition except for the 3 most expensive 1932 Graf Zeppelins. I did have the 50 cent baby Zep and sold it in 1980 for $200.00. It was mint, unused.

The fake Chinese coins I saw, all with very old dates on them looked genuine to me but they were silver plated, if you took a magnet to them they would stick. I don't know how genuine appearing they were as they were foreign coins I wasn't familiar with, so it is possible they were not sized properly and I just didn't know.

I have a few chrome like plated 43 pennies. The real zinc steel 43 pennies from the day are the only pennies that are magnetic.
So these silver plated ones were meant to fool people into thinking they were real silver?

Paul, oof what it would be worth today:unsure: Other than trade shows and shops how would you even get into International stamp collecting, unless you traveled alot or had a relative that did. The Narcotic stamp meaning I have to look up, can't mean what I think it does?

Red, yup that back seat swallows everything! I loved going through the cars at the junk yards but after I saw blood I backed off.
My father use to collect and re upholster antique couches and other furniture when I was little and my sister and I would find
coins in these couches in places that we had no clue how they made their way there..

People buy and sell stamps all the time. The American Philatelic Society is among the best members to do business with. Can't say what a mint Baby Zep would go for in today's market, but much more than than $200.00 I got for mine back in 1980. The Narcotic stamps were used to show the tax had been paid on them. There was a Federal tax on all narcotics back in the day.

Yeah, I got mine from an Aunt who actually got me started in stamp collecting. My narcotic stamps were unused and mint. I think you could just buy them back then if you wanted to collect them.
