The green pointer in my sig' is my EDC laser and its got a B1 version in it. I'm pushing it pretty hard to get nearly 250mW and it gets hot quickly but doesn't seem to mind. Before I modified the power switch on the pen host it's in it got stuck on in my jacket a couple of times and survived a run time of about an hour while buried in fabric with no airflow. (The smoke detector told me there was a problem, my jacket was starting to smolder.) The entire host was close to 90C but it's a tough little diode and hasn't lost any power.

Hi J,
My supplier has them for about 46.00 , but I usually buy about 10 at a time and these I have no call for so that amount would be not really feasible for me . I think if I search on &bay might find some to buy the piece.

The PLP's are no longer in production which is unfortunate as they were the ones I liked the best. They were replaced with the PLT5 variants which add a photodiode. These are all the models. The PLP's were multimode but nothing like kinds of multimode diodes out there. They had the best power in a near single mode as they did around 200mW pretty easy. I got lucky by scoring a batch of PLP520-B1's. Never really liked the B2 they were much less efficient.

Single Mode
PL515 30mW
PL520 50mw
PL520B 90mW

Multimode
PLP520-B1 90mW
PLP520-B2 120mW

Single Mode
PLT5-520-B1 50mW 510nm
PLT5-520-B2 50mW 515nm
PLT5-520-B3 50mW 520nm
PLT5-520-B4 30mW 510nm
PLT5-520-B5 30mW 515nm
PLT5-520-B6 30mW 520nm

Also some newer ones
Single Mode
PLT3-510 10mW 520nm
PLT5-510-B1 10mW 510nm
PLT5-510-B2 10mW 515nm
PLT5-510-B3 10mW 520nm

Shit i tought the choice would be easy. Still can’t choose which diode. I can’t find the NDG4216 anywhere. A quick search on ebay and DTR, i was able to find the PLP520-B1.

What which diode would you recommend me for 100/200mW and a long lifespan?

The one you just mentioned... DTR even said it was his favorite and can do 200mw easy. Just run it a tad lower if your worried..

I messaged with Lifetime17 and mine is running a x boost but they seem to be no longer available and he recomended a Flex drive V5 or a nano driver..

I’m pretty sure I have an eitan 520nm that hits 250-300mW. No idea which diode that could be.

Hi BO,
Take the B1 from DTR he is correct about the 200 mark easy I built a few of those and they are bad A$$. you can set either driver V5 or nano they have great range for this diode when bridged the resistors.
