Okay so I got the Pocket in the mail yesterday and I was almost in shock mostly because I’ve never in my life seen this wavelength. This thing is absolutely beautiful! Podo does such fantastic work.

Order date was 4-4-18
Ship date was 4-16-18
Arrived date 4-25-18
9 days to arrive from ship date. That’s really quick!

This isn’t a review since a lot of detail was left out, this was simply a thread on yet another very happy Sanwu customer :)
I haven’t gotten a chance to meter it but I’m sure it’s right where it needs to be. It’s so hard to believe that this wavelength just 2 years ago was over $1500 for the Diode alone. Sharp has really been puting some incredible products out lately and who knows, maybe sometime in the near future we’ll see a “Sharp” brand 30-50mw DD 589nm  we can sure dream.

When I get some more time I’ll post a bit more, this is all I have time for. Thanks for looking everyone.

Special thanks to Podo :)

How great are these 488 pockets! :D
Beautiful photos Richie, really captured the crisp, smooth finish of the pocket and on my screen, the color looks spot on
Another happy customer! is that also a pocket 505 in the mix? Really tempted to get a couple more wavelengths in these pockets, can't beat the size they are tiny :D

Man... I might need to pick one of these up! I love the pocket series! Thanks for posting some pictures.
yeah they are truly stunning. you totally should
Let's enjoy this gorgeous wavelength -I and you and we 'll be dreaming about a future with a 589 nm laser diode.
dreaming indeed trinh

yup it sure is the 505nm pocket :D
im so glad this shows up perfect as cyan on everyones screen because i was affraid it wouldnt. if i take the photo from a certain angle it doesnt show up so i had to keep retaking the pictures lol! thanks again jnr

Nice wavelength laser---something different/not usual.

The Sanwu pocket series 488nm-490nm is a good choice--small nice clean well made host, easy to take with wherever you go and low enough output to be able to use it and show it if careful about eye safety.

Great pics Ritchie!
I also got a 488 Pocket and couldn't be happier. My 488 has the Sanwu logo on it but my 505nm Pocket does not.

Awesome laser. :) Love the colour. All these 488-495nm threads are making me very envious ATM.
I love picture 7 because of that beautiful reflected cyan light. Enjoy.

Very nice photos of your new Sanwu laser, Richie. It's difficult to know exactly what wavelength it is just by looking, but it sure seems to be in that range before green starts to creep into the color. + Rep.

yeah my 505nm doesn't either, I wonder if it was just these 488-490's?
thanks by the way :D

yeah pic 7 is actually my favorite also.

yeah owning a spectrometer right about now would be great, if i was gonna get one i would want a good one like your oceanoptics, i see these cheap 100 dollar ones that pop up every now and then but i cant see those being accurate.

Yeah, Richie. Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for. I spent years looking for one and hundreds of $$$ getting it and setting it all up. In all, it took nearly a year to get everything worked out to where my spectrometer is quite accurate. I have used it extensively to test laser diodes and bin new ones by wavelength. It has also come in handy to check the absorption spectra of different solid state materials that could be used for laser oscillators and amplifiers.

That’s just remarkable, The knowledge you have for many things just impresses me, sounds crazy but I’d do anything to know these things.

Hey Evans, thanks :)
Yeah this wavelength is just beautiful. I would love to have 495nm now :D
