Trick is finding one which is both large like that and light weight. None!

That's funny stuff. I guess we can all see something else in a warning sign for bumps in the road. :yh:

Found this little guy on my driveway today. I think it's injured as it couldn't fly very well. Didn't have any honey on hand, so gave it some pancake syrup :D

OOHH! An insect lover, Alex? I could get my sister to send you some Texas cockroaches. They are huge...and fly.

Sorry guys. I use Photobox for these and it looks like they auto resize them to very tiny sizes. The picture straight from my phone would take up the entire screen.

Yes, it's a honey bee! :)

No thanks Paul :p

You fed an injured or dying honey bee pancake syrup?

Was that to euthanize the bee?

At least that made me laugh. lol

PS "Is there anything else that bees could be fed? Let’s take a trip to the supermarket, and even the internet. Wow! There is a huge selection of sweet stuff! There’s Karo® light and dark corn syrup, molasses, agave syrup, sweet potato syrup, maple syrup, pancake syrups, fruit syrups. Then we see the selection of sugars: brown sugar, light brown sugar, demarara sugar, organic sugar or organic evaporated cane juice (might look a bit brownish), turbinado, palm sugar, powdered sugar (contains 3% cornstarch to prevent caking
Are any of those usable for bee feed? NO! Positively not!"
From: Sugar For Bees | Bee Culture

Pancake syrup contains mostly high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup contains high levels of hydroxymethylfurfual, toxic to bees (LeBlanc et al. "Formation of Hydroxymethylfurfural in Domestic High-Fructose Corn Syrup and Its Toxicity to the Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)". Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2009)

I think it would depend on the pancake syrup. Maple syrup should have no high fructose corn syrup in it. Any syrup made with sucrose should be okay too.
