Hello all, I am working on a project that would use lasers in an automated system to control weeds around plants, like in a green house.
As a little background, I have played around with concentrating sunlight some. Which has some similarities but is different than lasers of course.

I do not know much about lasers, what I do know is: 1. Always wear protective eye wear. 2. Lasers burn stuff and are dangerous if not used properly. 3. Lasers are cool! :D

Anything else I learn about lasers will hopefully come from you guys.

Welcome.
Sounds like an interesting project. How will your automated system discriminate weeds from plants?
I imagine we'll hear some more about it soon.
I hope you enjoy your time here.

Thanks for the warm welcome all! I'll try to mind my manners and see what information I can glean from you folks.

I had to laugh at this one:

Welcome prospective brother of the collimated light!

Good question! Still working all that out. Much of the prior work has been done with imaging software.

Heads up, double posting is frowned upon here. You can use the multiquote button to respond to multiple people at once, or use the edit button to update your previous post.

The exception to that "rule" being if the second post is a day or two after the previous post. :)

Oh, so if I click multiquote on all the people I am quoting it will quote them all in one?

Also, Is there a way to combine them now?

Thanks.

Welcome, greenhouse. You can click on the edit icon at the bottom of your posts to delete them, then you can add a new post. Lasers are cool, but there are some things that can be done better by other means. Living weeds have a great deal of moisture in them and don't burn easily with lasers or by any other means. I'd rethink this idea.

Correct.

I usually delete the second post. Then I open up a new tab by middle clicking the quote button of the post I want to reply to. Once that comes up I copy and paste the text from the new post page into the previous post that I want to update by using the edit button.
