Actually, you need the plastic sleeve for the diode press to press into a 20mm module also. I have the presses for the 12mm modules and the press is the same, but the sleeve is different.

So is that something I can purchase extra on SL's website? Or is that something custom made from members?

Paul are you saying in order to press the diode into the module? The $80 option he linked already has the diode pressed & driver attached... right??

Since the modules are available from DTR, he has the sleeves. This is only needed if you purchase a 20mm module without a diode already pressed in it. For instance, if you are going to use it for a 503nm diode build and are getting the diode from someone besides Jordan.

Alex why don't you ask Rich to fashion you a copper host and buy a copper vape battery unit from him too and maybe he can set a 12mm 505nm module in it at the same time.
See my thread.
Just a thought.

Mmmmmm, don't think I really like that host very much RB, sorry. I like the black host from SL much better! :D

I plan on buying the pre-installed module w/ the leads Paul & Z. $80 for it :)

Then, according to my earlier post, you don't need the sleeve. If you ever see yourself pressing a diode into a 20mm module, that is when you will need one. ;)

Hap, their c6 bundle is a little cheaper. You'd need to get the blank contact board, and than pick your color of heat sink ( any would work with the 505) grab the module your looking at from DTR and your good to go. :)

Bargain No-Diode Host Bundle

There's a tutorial at the bottom of their page if you want to take a look at how it's done?

Ps, grab the drill aluminum pill, it will make the build a little easier. Just solder the leads from DTR's module to the blank contact board follow the tutorial and you got photons. :)

Thanks BobMc,

With this, can I just buy the module & plug it in & be done? Why do I need a blank board? The module already comes with a driver & diode, so all I need is the host, no?
