Yes, it is a flat fee of 25 cents per transaction. Not that much, but when you figure it into many transactions it adds up.

I never transfer PP amounts to my bank account
less than $150 so that the transaction id free.

BTW I got my refund yesterday for the items I
bought from this now no longer registered eBay
member.

No gain... No loss.

It occurred to me when I saw this new policy that eBay may be testing the waters to see how this goes over with sellers. A higher fee may be just around the corner.

I hope no one else is tempted to try as these are going to end up costing the rest of us more in fees.

I feel like scams are on the rise on eBay in general, so it might happen anyway. Even though I didn't trust this one, I've fallen prey to much more reasonably priced "good" deals. Not sure how scammers really expect to make money with the paypal holds though. I guess they could be selling address/email info.

It's a bit disappointing living in a rural area since the used items I'm most interested in would come from sites like eBay.

Sorry to hear that, Rivem. Still, there are good deals to be had on eBay. I've done pretty well lately. Just got the 520nm laser from Laserlands for $17.00 and bought two NDB7576 diodes in auctions for $20.00 each by only bidding up to the price I'm willing to pay. It takes patience, but it has been working so far.

It's alright with reputable sellers and ones you habe experience with, but the more unusual items sold by smaller sellers are where trouble seems to have been brewing.

Are you speaking of more fees as a Seller or a Buyer

I can't see a reason for higher fees just because some
Chinese wiseguy tried to sell us a bag of doorknobs.
The refunded money originally came out of our pockets
no eBay. So I see no direct financial loss to eBay..

If the seller was able to remove some or maybe most of his money, then eBay takes the hit. In the end, whatever impacts the sellers, impacts the buyers. I have had eBay refund money to me out of their pocket before, so I know it happens.

I still don't understand what type of fees or
which fees you are expecting to go up.

It isn't really so much eBay, but the fees PP charges could increase. These could be passed onto the buyer. Besides, eBay does charge a fee per transaction to the seller, and these could increase and be passed on to the buyer as well.

I've had a couple of issues with what was apparently sellers profiles being hacked. I tried on two different occasions to buy a Chromecast from two different sellers that ended up being fraudulent!

Ebay refunded money to me once without taking it out of the sellers account when the post office delivered the box, but the copper rod fell out of it, due to poor packing.

I've seen someone continuously hack different ebay accounts and listing the same R&S spectrum analyzer over and over again, I chased him doing that for months and emailed each seller telling them their account was hacked, they would then change their password so the guy couldn't get back in. He kept asking for cash payment outside of ebay for a discount.

Hey, Chris. Did you even get a spectrometer after looking for so long? I know you've wanted one. I was just curious. :D
