What's the advantage of using indium foil rather than copper? Is its thermal conductivity even higher?

Indium is a lot softer and malleable than copper or aluminium and can therefore better mold to the shape of the interface. Although the thermal conductivity is lower (around 80 Wm-1K-1) the overall contact area will be greater.

Very nice build I'm shocked you got it into this small pen. I want to try the pen build on a red.

Where did you get the host?

Creative Technology Lasers - Pointer Host Component Page

As of now, there are no chrome hosts available. Minimum order is 300. Let's wish someone buys a massive bulk to sell on the forum. I have one of those hosts with a laser built in I will sell later on in the BST section.

Thanks,

It gets warm after like 45 seconds i did use a lot of thermal hahha :pop:

Like others have said I'd be very concerned if the leadlight host took 45 seconds to feel 'warm'. With that type of current I'd expect it to feel hot in around 10 seconds.

How has the momentary switch taken the current over time?

I was going to do this exact build however Lazeerer informed me that the momentary switch was not up to the task of carrying any more than 1.6A of current. Thus I waited for him to fulfill a custom x-switch order for a build like this but he hasn't been seen in a long time :cryyy:

i gave one to my friend he used it for like 20+ minutes on or longer the host got so hot you could not touch it then i ask him why is this thing so hot he was like i used it all day long and i keep it on more then 20 minutes so then i waited the thing too cool down and i gave him bigger host and explained it too him again not to get it this hot ,it must bin like 120+F you could not touch the host i have no idea how the diode and driver made it !

There's no reason why you couldn't use any diode with any rectangular driver to get whatever output you want for a moment. 2 issues are heat and battery. Batteries may sag so much that it will actually run longer than expected as the output drops pretty quickly. Not surprising at all to see an initial 3.5W peak on initial turn on, I never bothered building one because of that. I think the most I took one to was 2.2W with an M140 and Efest 10440 cell(s).

Hi, Alien,
I built a few 66's with a PLTB450b set to 1.8A X Drive and let me tell you it get HOT... Fast there is no way that tiny CU module even with Arctic is going to kept cool enough without damaging the diode in a long run.. I Don't care what you use to contact the CU module to the host There is nothing there at all to suck up and disperse the heat. Now your putting in a 3+W diode in sure it will be powerful but duty cycles will be at a bare minimum. Been there done that don't get me wrong it's a nice build pal but efficiency poor ... And why waste a 9mm diode on such a small package.??

rich:)
