2W Laser question on capability...

Can a 2W blue laser cut/melt through fishing string, like the run in the mill clear plastic fishing string? Has anyone tested this, I would like a factual answer. Thanks!!

Hi Clip,
Are you kidding that will go through that like nothing 2w's is powerful from a G2 lens even a 3 element lens so be very careful ..

Don't use sunglasses. They won't do much. The best bang for your buck is here Eagle Pair® 190-540nm OD6 Slip Over Laser Safety Goggles

Cheaper options are available, but they aren't that good.

Edit: For 2W, the slightly cheaper OD4 Survival Lasers sells would still be pretty good.

Because of the fact that it's clear, you may also need to have the laser focused to the string which can be very hard since the string is small, and will be impossible without laser safety goggles.
