Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

Hi all,

I think I give him a few days more, then I'll also ask for a PayPal refund.
I'll keep you informed! Then order at a more reputable seller.....

Re: My experience with SciFi lasers

I hope no one is ordering anything, and if you have money with joker get it back asap.

Do you think that would be possible for a warranty situation, being within the 6 month period of the warranty?

Yeah, just start a paypal dispute saying that the item wasn't as described(nonworking) and that the seller isn't offering a repair/refund/replacement.

At the current rate it will be months(if ever) before he fixes your laser or sends you a new one.

Re: Sci-Fi Lasers is a total joke!!!!

okay here's the problem with letting Joker keep his Banner on the Forum, he should be banned for all this BS he's been pulling. He's being allowed to stay to resolve his existing customer issues. With this Banner still running he's taking more orders. Creating more customers with issues. It's a catch-22 and I don't think it's a resolution. Let it let him stay until he resolved his customers issues but the banner need to come down.

I'd do a dispute as soon as you can.

Many people, myself included, have been waiting for months, and several of us seem to have been cut off from contact by Joker.

Nothing's going to happen in a few days, you might as well start the process now so it's over sooner. I was also optimistic about my laser arriving, but now I realize it's just not going to come.

Sanwu sells quality lasers for a sorta-similar price. I'm going to buy one from him, you should consider doing so too.

I guess I could try that, but I'd like to give it some time first. I wrote to him several times lately by email and also a PM yesterday but haven't heard anything back yet. I just got done writing an email that I thought was very detailed and offered 3 different solutions and stated that I'm open to any of them but simply want to know which one he's going to do (refund, replacement of parts module, or send new laser). I'd like to give him until maybe next Monday to at least respond before doing anything else. I don't like taking drastic measures right off the bat. I understand he might be a lot busier now with so much going on, so I want to at least give him a fair chance.

There's discussion on how to do that. Right now it's in c0ldshadow's hands. He's the admin, he knows how the advertising agreement was set up, only he can remove the ad and restore order deus ex machina.

I don't know why some of you guys are going out on a limb when all evidence at present points to a bad outcome.

If Joker is does manage to own up to his commitments, and has sent the lasers he says he sent, there's nothing to worry about. You can cancel the disputes, or even resend payments if the disputes are already ruled in your favor.

Re: Unhappy with Sci-Fi Lasers - NOT being resolved

I don't think anyone is getting anything

Completely agree. Given that there's literally thread after thread after thread with issues about orders from him I think it's downright stupid to not take measure to protect own interests.

If Joker does fulfill his obligations the disputes will be closed. If on the off chance something is really in transit, payment can be resent.

I wouldn't even know where to start! One day it worked perfectly, then the next day it was super dim, even after I charged up the batteries. That's all I know, and wouldn't have a clue as to how to figure out the problem or implement a solution. I'm not into electronics, so I wouldn't gain anything by taking it apart (that would also void any warranty). I have no testing equipment, so I can't test any parts to see what is wrong even if I knew how to do that.

Sounds like the diode is dead unfortunately. Did you put the batteries in wrong or exceed the duty cycle? If not, you just got unlucky. There are probably some members here who could fix it for a modest fee.

Nope! I made absolutely sure to put the batteries in the right way, and then I left them there. I had no reason to take them out until the laser was as dim as it suddenly was. I'm wondering if THAT was the problem--leaving the batteries in it. Between the time it worked perfectly until the time is didn't was simply a period of time where the laser sat unused with the batteries in it.

As for duty cycle, the website shows it at 60 seconds on and 60 seconds off. I made sure to stay well within that time because I wanted to be extra cautious, so when I'd turn it on to do a video or a photo shoot, I'd turn it on and then start counting the seconds, and would limit it to 30 seconds, just to be safe. I didn't want to push the limits. I guess being super cautious like this didn't pay off after all, assuming it's a fried diode.

I just now logged into my paypal account and looked for the dispute option but can't find it. Then I googled the subject and found that it has to be done within 45 days of placing the order. Since I placed the order on Feb 27, it looks like I no longer have that option.

EDIT: I found the button to click for conflict resolutions. But it still looks like my window of opportunity may be closed. Apparently, I am 2 days too late. https://www.paypal-community.com/t5...-dispute-after-45-days-of-payment/td-p/667967

Now this is important. Do you have any kind of voltmeter/multimeter to check the batteries? Lithium ion batteries can go bad and then not take a charge. They'll show as green lights/fully charged on the charger, but in reality they're dead. Try a NEW set of batteries if you cannot measure your current batteries.
