hmmmm what do you think a new diode would run or could i get a step down?

If it's fixable, then yes you can get a step down. You will have to buy from some seller in China or HK though. I just searched on DealeXtreme - Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - DX Free Shipping Worldwide and on AliExpress.com - Online Shopping for Electronics, Fashion, Home & Garden, Toys & Sports, Automobiles from China. and couldn't find one over 200mW, there are a huge number of modules available on AliExpress but the more powerful ones are lab laser modules not usable for your laser.

First you need to see if it can be taken apart and fixed and what size module it has in it. Chinese manufacturers sometimes epoxy everything in place and it can't be taken apart.

You can get a 700mw 520nm raw diode from DTR for ~$300, which you could push to 750mw (1W even). No idea where you can get 750mw 532nm diodes though.

There is no such thing as a 532nm diode, they are modules not diodes, that thing probably has a 3W IR pump diode in it.

That's a good idea though changing over to a 520nm, provided it could fit a standard 12mm AixiZ type module, but then again doing that it might just be easier to buy a standard host and build a new laser.

There's got to be someone here who had one of these and took one apart before.

High power 532 handhelds have strange modules, they are much larger due to their insanely powerful IR pump diodes and crystal assemblies, pretty sure they are either custom built for the host or the host is custom built for the module. Anyway, you will have a pretty hard time finding a module to replace it, since it needs to be from the same host :( (they pop up on eBay sometimes) usually $300+ and it wont be an easy fix.

I would hate to kill such an expensive laser. The host might gain value though, since WL is closing down and those hosts are s3xy as.

I don't think you will be able to fit one of those DTR modules inside your WL, maybe if a machinist worked on it, you could, but man, what a project.

I really don't think it would be worth all the hassle unless you are trying to get it fixed to retain your relationship. You can probably get a more powerful 520 for less than it would cost to fix anyway.

It depends. Is the interlock integrated into the driver? Or is it separate?

can i use the housing?

Hi Connorspyder, Yes you can use the housing, it just depends on how much time and effort, not to mention money, that you want to put in to it. :D
I have modified three Jetlasers 532nm Ti-B lasers, and I am working on the fourth one as I type this.
As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, those hosts are generally not made to be taken apart; it will probably require heat to get it apart, sometimes lots of heat.
You will also need to have new a heatsink, and possibly other internal parts machined to fit your host (housing).

Take a look at this -link- to see one of the Ti-B's that I modified. In it, you will see the 532nm module that J/L uses in their laser.

Edit: Here is a thread of a Wickedlaser being modified, this may be more similar to your situation, than my J/L mod.

Is the main "one piece DPSS module" easy to remove? maybe he could just remove the whole module send it to a machinist and have them make a aluminium heatsink with contact board with a 12mm hole for a DTR module,
Im not familiar with these hosts.... but since it originally was DPSS maybe you would remove the lens from the head(IDK where final lens is) and the new DTR module may sit fully inside the host and you may just set the focus to infinity then attatch the head,

I really dont know.. just trying to picture things in my head....

On the units that I have taken apart, the module came out easily once you got all the epoxy sealed, threaded components apart.
That is exactly what I did, I machined a heatsink to fit the host, and added a standard 12mm bore to accept a 12mm copper module.
Then, depending on how you wanted it to focus, you could simply add a fixed focus, or try to incorperate the the original focus system, or some variation of it to keep it focusable.

The O.P. says he has it taken apart, I guess we'll have to wait to see his pics on how it came apart.

This thread has made me curious. I have a small green laser "pointer" (rated at <5mW, but whether or not that is true, I do not know). It was sold as a "ruggedized" green laser, but I bought it so long ago I cannot remember the outlet. The label shows that it was manufactured by Holograms & Lasers International of Houston, TX. A quick DuckDuck shows that they are an importer of Chinese lasers.

Anyway, after a little reading about DPSS lasers, I'm guessing that is what this laser is. I don't recall ever dropping it, but if I did, this hefty little "bullet" would probably ding the concrete. Short of trying to take it apart, is there any way to confirm the type of laser module, or determine if it has an IR filter in it?
