YEAH, so.. I bought a 3.3 watt blue copper dominator from BLORD, 3 months ago. he shipped it to me in Coventry, Rhode Island, USA. 1 month ago my laser went missing but I thought, whatever its under a couch somewhere, but other things went missing and i realized someone was stealing shit, either a guy i knew or his friend, I kicked them both out but no proof who it was....

well today I did a search on craigslist, and found "3.3 Watt blue laser by blord for sale, east greenwhich, Rhode Island" that's 5 miles from my house, posted 17 days ago. I wondered how did this person know the Watt rating, and know about blord? I google searched there phone number and found this thread, here on laserointerforums. They actually came on here and asked about it, I matched there phone number here, to their craigslist add.

Here's the thread they posted here on Laser Pointer Forums http://laserpointerforums.com/f37/hey-guys-90822.html#post1322966

Here's the Page they posted on craigslist selling it near me http://providence.craigslist.org/ele/4641379037.html

what should I do?

How do you know for certain it is yours? It seems very suspicious, but how do you know he didn't acquire it elsewhere?

its just what are the odds of that.. this is a VERY custom laser from blord. and lasers don't come as one power setting, its the same exact watt rating as mine. and it goes up for sale in basically the same town as me, at the same exact week mine was missing, while someone was stealing other things from my house, I found my dirtbike helmet posted on craigslist from a pawn shop, but wouldn't tell me the guys name so I couldn't prove that one

I messaged blord and asked him how many other 3.3w blue copper dominators he sent to rhode island, or even the USA.

this person knows nothing about it, so its obvious they didn't buy it here. they had to come here to ask, if they can show proof of purchase from even ebay ok, but if they just got it from a friend, lets see his proof of purchase. I have proof of sale, lets see if who they got it from does.

Inquire about an address for local pickup and so you can "see what you are buying." Go to his house, see if you know him. Or, get someone else to go with you, have them ask to "see the laser," they can walk aside and you can confront him. If it is yours, you can just drive away (quickly). If not, then too bad I guess. You could get local law enforcement involved too, but make sure you are 100% certain of the laws regarding lasers beforehand; it wouldn't hurt to have a print out of said laws to show the police if they show up. Reason being, not all cops will know the laws...some may not even know what a laser is. Having a physical copy of them just lets you go "See, it says right there [x], so owning [laser] is legal."
Just some thoughts. It definitely does NOT seem like a random coincidence.
Good luck :( Hope that guy gets what he deserves.

thanks for the advice, that is pretty much my plan. I sent a text and will go there and do a bit of detective work. see if its the guy I expect, if not. will mention his name in convo, see if they know him. "OH i had this laser once too, custom made, but it went missing. I bought mine from Blord on LPF, 3.3w and I have proof of purchase, do you? no.. well mine had 2 type, MAH, brand batteries, oh this does too. I bet you didn't mean to receive stolen property, just give me the name of the person you got this from, i'll take it and we don't need to get the cops involved" I just hope blord has a better idea like a hidden number somewhere, he should start putting on serial numbers or something, and I should start marking all my items with an invisible ink black light pen lol

Thanks for the help ARG, i appreciate that

I bet it was stolen. here is the craigslist quote

Selling because i cant focus the beam, i am not electronic savvy, so im selling for cheap. My loss your gain.

If this person had really bought it from blord it would have cost at least $350. they would probably be more willing to try to figure out how to fix what is likely an easy repair. less willing to sell it at such a loss. stolen goods though, are 100% profit.

Ask them if it comes with the proper goggles. That would be another good sign its stolen. Chances are they're blind by now trying to focus it unless they snatched your goggles too.

And wouldn't it have made sense for them to just ask blord about the focusing problem on their $300+ laser instead of creating a thread about it? Unless they were never in contact with him to begin with....hmmmmm.

Also interesting how both of them made accounts at about the same time and stopped posting on the 29th of August. Seems they are/were in a hurry to sell that thing. Is his laser still up for sale on eBay?
And let us know how it turns out!

I feel like it would be smartest not to broadcast your knowledge of this and set up a meeting, for which you had the police present to investigate stolen property. If he knows you know he has it and are actively tracking him, you won't see it ever again.

I had a PM convo which led to exchanging a few texts with those guys. It was extremely suspicious how much in a hurry they were to sell it and for only a fraction of what they supposedly paid for it. I tried to convince them their issue was probably an easy fix but they didn't seem interested.

When it comes to your laser everyone has given good suggestions you should follow. As for your helmet here (& anything else they pawned of yours) I would get the police involved immediately. Even though the pawn shop can't give you the name of who pawned it they can get into immense trouble for handling stolen goods and will cooperate with the police or potentially be closed down and/or arrested for fencing stolen items!

One thing that I'm gonna drop here is that a non-FDA compliant >5mW handheld laser may have been imported in to the US. Going to the police may actually get you in trouble.

Lots of good advice here--
Pawn shops-- I ewent to one just to see if any of my stolen stuff was there-- when I told them that they asked me to leave- andsaid they rae required in texas to both tell the PO everything that comes in and they are required to check the lists of stolen stuff-too..
I guess they felt I was accusing them of fencing my stuff and took offense--

You had better got on top of this ASAP coz at that price they will sell it and you may not longer be able to get any help--have you ever filed a report of it being stolen??- i dont really think you would get into trouble for being the REAL owner- If I were going to visit and asy I am buying the best person to go with would be a Policeman in plain clothes- you should give them pics of it and any other evidence of your being the real owner-- I doubt the person selling it would put up much defence as theft or selling stolen things is NOT legal and IMHO the legality of owning such a laser would not come into play-- you may need some kind of bill of sale, pics ETC from Kot- who I am sure is willing to help you --
hope you get it back --
BTW was the total value of al taken high enough for this theft to be a felony??-- Is there anyone you know that is willing to go with you and tell the police that they saw it and know you owned one and they are willing to ID the custom-made 'light'-having seen it in your possession...

ps what i think you should NOT do is go there and take it by force--

Yeah the fact that its the same power rating and I have the convos with blord about buying it and payment records from paypal. I just wanna know who it was, I have an idea, 1 of 2 ppl. I hate to disown both of them because 1 is innocent. But that means the 1 that did it plays the other one did it game.
