Got this super-rare Wickedlasers SONAR at high rate the other day.

What Angelos (lazeerer) did, was completely renew the inner working
of this laser by putting his magic and skills into it. The laser uses the
soft start X-Drive with G-lense and one of his 3.8mm 405nm diodes.

Angelos turned the host into a near 1W 405nm burning laser machine with
very good duty cycle for such a light weight host constructed from aircraft
grade aluminium.

Nice looking WL "Sonar" burner you've got there DJNY!
That gloss white is a refreshing change of pace from the usual run of the mill black hosts we see every day.

Great looking photos as always; that Rayleigh scattering pic. is just awesome. :D

Yes should be an early model, it uses the 17670 batt. They used to sell for $2K for 20mW of 405nm.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing DJNY :)

I used to search for that host since I started with lasers. Just love the white look and the design with the Blu-ray on it. But I´m at least as impressed with the inner workings.

Kudos go to lazeerer for making this possible

That is so awesome DJNY :D

I love what angelos did with it, A nice 1W 405nm inside it :D

I have two of these white sonar hosts..
One is in working condition. (version: ''No safety pin, No LED indicator'') (on route to me as i speak)
And the other has a Safety pin and LED indicator. (only LED indicator works, no output)

You say that the first gen is not using cr123 ? or is this after the modification ?

Love Angelos his work....
Btw, one question...
On the generation with the safety pin and LED light, you can unscrew the front cap...
How do you open up the first gen ? as the front cap looks pressed ?

Love the build, on this classic nice white host :D

Hey Smeer nice that you also got your hands on this host

Did I told you from that $650 (IIRC) a guy offered me for this built some months ago? These Sonar host are just too nice, and so rare :)

I shoot Craig (The_LED_Museum) a PM. He has the silver SONAR version and might give us a little history lesson on the WL SONAR in general.

Yes Angelos did an amazing work again. Too bad I can´t talk more about the inner workings and post some inside pictures

I got two of them now (wel actually 3) ''Sonar elite pro''
The third one should be arriving in the mail this comming week :D

The silver ones where the first, if i'm right..
They used to pull them out of blu-ray players as they didn't had a source yet.
When they found a source for these diodes, they made different versions. (correct me when i'm wrong)

Yeah some back info from ''Craig'' would be nice :D

Love these hosts :D

Here's a pic i took a few min ago ....

Hope the offer still stands ''One day'' ;)

Thank you for sharing DJNY :)

Wow three Sonars :D
What do you plan for the non-working ones?

Guess you´re right about the silver version being the first ones in the series.
The Elite Pro, using 2x AAA, was released back in 2009 IIRC.
There was also a black Sonar host out there.

You got a nice Wicked collection there :gj:

Nice laser DJNY! What camera settings did you use on the Rayleigh Scattering picture?
