I agree with Atomicrox--sorry to say. THe guy who runs that place is not even an MD much less an eye specialist of any kind, Their web sites screams "we will tell you anything to get your money".

Look at their disclaimer " Disclaimer: Even though our Treatments are done using autologous cells, our Stem Cell Therapies are not approved by the FDA. Stem Cell Treatments are not a cure for any condition, disease or injury, nor a substitute for proper medical diagnosis and care. Again, Stem Cell Treatments are not a cure for any condition, disease or injury, nor a substitute for proper medical diagnosis and care. The information we communicate is not medical advice. It is intended to be used for educational and information purposes only. It’s important for you to do your own research based on the options that we present to you so that you can make an informed decision. "

Also the exact same treatment for the same price of $7600 for absolutely any and every condition makes them very suspect of being high priced snake oil salesmen

The same treatment/same procedure for everything under the sun can't be science or Medicine

See FDA warning at http://www.fda.gov/forconsumers/consumerupdates/ucm286155.htm

Be super and extra cautious of guys claiming they can cure everything but offer no evidence of curing anything.

If I were you I would talk with the people here: http://www.schepens.harvard.edu/ocular-regenerative-medicine-center/coe-orm/coe-ocular-regeneration.html

Yes, I understand where you both are coming from. The one flat price sounds sketchy, but if you think about it - it's the same procedure for every patient, it's just administered differently. Why should the cost be so different? There are also very few stem cell clinics inside the US. I am open to trying a different one, if you think you can find a better suggestion. I have already emailed the Schepens Eye Research Institute a year or so ago and was basically told there was nothing they could do for me. They perform a lot of clinical trials using stem cells, but they only accept patients with some form of AMD (age-related macular degeneration). That was the case with every single clinical trial related to using stem cells to regenerate retinal tissue (clinicaltrials.gov). I did also contact another clinic that was outside the country, but they responded with a much higher price tag ($12,500). Plus expenses for going out of the country would much greater. I know that the Stem Cell Rejuvenation Center may not be the absolute best odds for success, but I'm trying my best to stay within the realm of reason and realistic. Thank you both for your concern.

Did you figure out a way to make the site accept Paypal? I went to the donation site and looks like credit card only still.

Hey xoul, I just read the whole thread. I hope you are getting somewhere.
I wish you the best and when I set up my PayPal and make a credit card (I'm 17) I'll be able to donate something.

Thanks a ton, Alennn. I think I'm pretty much stuck where I'm at for now, in terms of recovery. But, I'm staying hopeful that this procedure will happen and work. Only time can tell. ;) Thanks for the support!

Hi, guyfawkes, thanks for your suggestion! Is this who you are talking about?
Stem Cell Therapy || Stem Cell Treatments || Adult Stem Cell Cinics || Accepting Patients Now || Medical Information - Panama City, Panama
What success did they have? Was there an article you read or something? I would love to read about it, if you have a link. I'm afraid their cost may be significantly higher than the clinic in Arizona. Not to mention traveling to Panama would be more costly. But I'll still look into it!

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't get on the forums very often anymore. Thanks again for the tip!

So, I was logging in to extend the end date of the fundraiser, and received this gut-wrenching message:

* GiveForward adopted a new payment processor this year. Because your fundraiser is set up using our former processor, changing its end date is not an option.

So, I'm not really sure how to handle this. I will contact GiveForward to see if I can roll it into a new fundraiser or something. Given this issue, and the fact several people seem to think that the clinic I am seeking to use might be a sham/ineffective, I'm tempted to see if I can just return the funds back to the donors. I don't want to keep the money if I'm unable to use it for the purpose it was intended for. I'll let you all know what I find out from GiveForward. Thanks again for all the support you've all shown!

I guess that would be impossible. Anyway, as for me, donation is always just throwing money away. Just do whatever you seem is right to do with them.

Well, I spoke with GiveForward and they basically told me there's nothing I can do to extend the fundraiser. However, I can create a new one and just lower the goal amount by the amount received. I will probably just do this after the original one ends. I'll update here if there's any changes to the URL or whatnot. Thanks DrSid.
