Hello,
This by far is my favorite laser, its a JDSU 2214-ML40 I acquired from Cheech226 about a month ago. EXCELLENT buying experience. Since then I have been working on various things but now I've finely got time to post it :] AND ITS COLD IN THE HOUSE

I have it set up in a cart to make it easy to move around and store. The remote is connected to a dB 25 cable which is velcroed to the side of the frame after making a small triangle platform. The laser head is supported by PVC piping that's been cut, epoxied back to back, then painted. The PSU sits in the bottom for a low center of gravity. I can't imagine the feeling if it flipped over. :cryyy:

Now lets get down to those pretty wavelengths. It is multiline which is very cool. I like lasers in general because they are fun, but to me the science behind them is equally as impressive. Photonics is a welcome change of scenery when I attend Astronomy club.

Is anyone good at distinguishing wavelengths? I'm not good at taking photos or guessing wavelengths.

These are some of my favorite photos.

I haven't owned any others but I love the JDSU its small, relatively high power, and can accept a great remote interface. I briefly tested it with my Radiant X4 it and the power output averaged 150mW @ 10A.(cheech measured 168mW which is probably more accurate) I did light a match and popped a few balloons all in good fun.
So far I had a few uranium marbles, a prism, and diffraction grating but I am keeping an eye out for some other interesting items.

Also on a separate note:
The Blower runs on 220V. luckily I run my welding machine off the same outlet so I have it available~ BUT in the future I might not have the opportunity. Does anyone have any ideas where to find a fan that runs of regular house 120 current?

Tips/suggestions always welcome.
Thanks guys!

Very nice. I just love the look of the whole unit. The beam of course, but the unit it self has a presence of its own. Just looks badass for lack of a more elegant term :p wold have loved to snag this one. Next time, next time

+1 for the pics.

As far as fans, you can readily find 115VAC argon fans on ebay, and you can just splice the wires and rig it up to an outlet. I was doing that for a while for my ArKr since it's 220V, and it didn't come with a 220V fan.

Will take some jurry-rigging to get it to hook up to the back of the laser. Perhaps tape and silicone? I'm sure your shop has all you need and more ;)

As long as you're getting 52CFM of air it'll be happy up to 40 mW. That's the nominal airflow for it @ spec.

I used a PVC floor drain fitting for my fan.

Makes it look like a sump pump :-(

LOL Mike! Well, you're guaranteed to be pumping out some photons that way.

I need a stand like that for mine... I just have it zip tied to the PSU with some Styrofoam in between.

Nice setup. I wish my cylindrical head had a nice long umbilical like that. Mine only has a short 2-3 foot one that makes positioning the head a royal PITA. Too bad extensions are non-existant.

Whoa, it looks like a jet engine, good thing it's secured well. I bet it keeps your laser nice and cool. What is that fans CFM? Do you run it at full power?

Wow a short umbilical? That's no good. I own some other equipment with plugs like that and I know they're very expensive new. I wonder if you can find a used one but the seem like they would be a fairly obscure item.
