The first one will be too small I think for anything powerful. Not enough space for module+driver+decent battery.

Cool idea though, maybe if you could find a slightly larger one?

they are toys.....hence why we strip them and put laser components in them. almost every laser we have today started out as something else and was modified to be what we like; C6, 501b, C8, etc.......

Well I rather have a stripped aluminum flashlight host,'than a plastic toy

i dont think the second one is a plastic toy.....it takes 3x AA so it is decently large. watch the video on the page

EDIT: i dont like the design at all but some people will love it

Yeah the flash lights are metal.. Imagine putting 3 or 5 diodes in there in a circle??? Then it would be a real light saber!! :)

I still don't see it as a nice laser option. Anyhow that is why this world works, because we all have our own preferences. If you like it, so be it. Make it a laser and show us how it works out, it would make one very interesting build thread.
