Hi All,

I said I would post a video of my crude laser burning circuit once it was converted to a .wmv file so here it is:

1Watt laser burning circuit - YouTube

I tried to upload the file to this forum but it was taking way too long so I had to go with a link to YouTube.

Please remember that I'm a newbie so if I say something stupid...

I wanna give :thanks: to my man hakzaw1 for helping me find the parts to get this going...U DA MAN!

Yeah, that was the FIRST thing I learned about lasers...SAFETY

Well, I'm hooked on lasers now. Looking to build a more powerful unit next.

Need to save a few bucks in order to make it happen...but I'm working on that.

Looks like you have some serious potential to make some rocking lasers. Good luck, be safe, and keep posting!

One note 445nm is not blue ray.
Nice video otherwise. +1

Same here. I only have a few posts but before I bought a laser I studied safety and got myself 3 pairs of goggles/glasses.

Smart move Molo...you only get one pair of eyes in this life.

I recommend testing your glasses once you get your laser circuit up and running (since you have 3 pairs). I believe that you have done the proper research...just as I did...so I believe you got the correct rating for the laser you are using...but just to be sure and for peace of mind...it only takes 2 seconds to test them and verify that they block the beam of light.

what kind of laser did you get? Let me now if you post any videos of it in action!

Good Luck, stay safe, and Happy Burning

Nice video. Here is how you embed it. Just click the insert Youtube button far right item at the top of the reply box and put in the code for the video. On yours it is qk55tlpe_RQ and it can be found by looking at the url of the video. It will start after the = sign and end before the & sign.:)

One thing I would suggest is using shrink tubing on the leads of the diode to keep the pins from shorting together. Other than that great job.

:thanks: DTR

And thanks for the info on how to post the video. I didn't know how to get the code..but now i do:)

I like your suggestion of using the shrink tubing to keep leads from shorting together. I'm going to do that

It was a pain in the a$$ to solder those wires onto the leads of the laser diode

Dude... you put the glasses in the beam path?????????

That's not a very smart move. I'm not sure what type of glasses you have there, but some contain a thin layer of substrate between the panes of perspex which can actually be ruined if you leave it in the beam path like you did. Like a one hit throw away kind of thing.

Another thing to note... the glasses are reflective... which you might have noticed... again not a very smart move to pull if you're not wearing glasses while viewing this. Looks like you were so all good. Just something to be aware of.

But those do look like good quality ones... Maybe just refrain from doing that again. Don't wanna see anyone get hurt.
