Possibly a chance to finally get a ML501P73 diode earlier.

I wouldn't expect the OPNEXT HL63133DG to do much above spec. I got 200mW out of mine when I had it.

I was hoping that this was an OPNEXT vs Mitsubishi phenomena, more so than a single-mode vs multi-mode issue. If I could actually find the Mitsubishi single-mode for sale (somewhere reasonable, not Thorlabs), I'd be up for giving it a shot.

Will this be the really flat, rectangular with "wings" type of diode, or is it possible that it will have a better profile. I am not a fan of he current high wattage 635 diode. I'd sure like to see a more gaussian type dot!

I guess we don't know until you get one?

EDIT: I found your first post about this diode and I guess it has the same profile, I guess we need to concentrate on optics if we don't like the shape of the dot.

Also, I am concerned that "This baby has been off the shelf" may mean it is "out of stock."

"If you look at the baby details, the system prompts "Sorry, your view of the baby does not exist, may have been off the shelf or transfer, this situation is the shelf commodities are sellers or sellers use the external shop to release baby set not Taobao show cause, if you need to purchase, we recommend that you contact the seller please sellers back on the shelves before the transaction."

Iam working on a corrected Handheld set up for these diodes.:) Its basicly a large heatsink capsule that will allow me to slide the C optics in place.

Iam Pretty much done other then making a new slider.

This is my third attempt and think it will work. Hopefully it does because i think i will be able to down size it to about the size diameter of a C6 host but will stick out the front ~1 1/2 inches.

I hope i can perfect it so be able to make more for anyone that wants to give it a Go.:)

Beam profile will be better then a 445nm diode with a G1 type lens on.:)

I have picture of the correction setup and a write up but have not posted it yet. I will try to post it tonight for you guys.:)

I think you will like it. It wont be no 660nm laser for sure but it will be far better then what it is now.

In his spare time, Lazeerer is also solving cold fusion, perpetual energy, the prime number factorization problem, and designing a 580nm laser diode from crystals he grew in his kitchen last night while effortlessly preparing a traditional Beef Bourguignon.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing that Angelos can't / isn't doing :D

You guys Crack me Up.

I dont have picture yet of the mechanism or whatever you want to call it but i have picture of Correction and what to expect. As well as what i have learned in the venture of correcting these 635nm diode. I was totally New to all this.

The idea of the set up is to be able to slide the 2 C lenses that will be mounting on round disked back and forth into the correct potion. Since you have to get it dead on the center or you will get a funky dot, I figure doing it this way will take out most of the centering problem that someone will have making it easier to set up. This is the Theory, i have not yet tested anything in the set up as the 2 sliders that hold the C lens are not done.

This was the final design i came up with. However it might not work so then i have to go back to the drawing board and go with Plain B. Which i have no clue what it is.:undecided:

Have you found a decent set of cylindrical optics?

I found a set from SurplusShed that was almost identical to Dr. Lava's corrective optics. I could take a look back through my order emails and figure out what they were if you'd like.

I probably have them already from SPS. I bought everything that i think would work in a handheld setup which needs to have SFL to some Extent. I Posted about them Here check it out and see if there the same.:)
http://laserpointerforums.com/f49/i...aser-94-transmission-69568-3.html#post1015638

Please Note that some have mentioned that the lenses that was closes to the diode was back words. I found the way i have them gave a better dot then the other way around so i stuck with it.:) SO just want to mention this.

If there not i would love to see what you found. Please share.

Maybe not the same ones but this is the closes i got to his C Lens.

However His work the Best IMO. Using a G1/G2 lens. However again a shorter FL lens will be even better. Which i can get but have not attempted a price quote as iam scared to hear the price for 10.:( Their expensive. Probably 30$ a lens But will knock off ~5mm of the dot. Problem is the Lens is small and very hard to mount and center so a G1/G2 lens will do for now.:)

Edit:

I would also like to note that the setup iam making at least this one can fit just about any C Lens within reason or any of the from SPS that has the SFL and will work for a handheld.

Yep - that's them. Same convex (I think), and definitely the same plano concave from the second test (the 10inch away one).

Yep they do a great job for sure but DR Lava really does better in my extensive testing. Iam Unsure if i ever sent you those pictures that time.

You will see the difference what i mean in my pictures.

Also I want to mention that it appears that the Plano concave lens matters big time in the correction. I think that is whats making it not as good. Ive been looking for one that has a similar curve to it like the Lave one.

When I use the First C lens and Lava's Second C lens i get nearly identical results.:shhh:

What lens are you using.?

Found today 10 units of P73 available in stock, "in stock" is the good part, the bad part is they cost 233 euros + VAT + Shipping. Actually for 500mW its still cheap but not as cheap as they have been picked up for from other sources. I could have them in the hand in 3-4 days if anyone is interested. contact me on Laser.shows_srl at yahoo dot com.

Yes is the same problem in my case, because I can buy at the official
distributor the amount I want, but the problem is the price, that's why I have
said nothing.

Generally if you purchase directly from the official distributors is not
advantageous if you can't buy large quantities.

In this case it is almost better to go through a reseller, which purchases
large quantities, in this case tend to have much better prices.

An example of the price that I can get directly from the official distributor in
quantities of 10 to 29 pieces is about 220€ each, and about 208€ for
amounts of between 30 to 49 pieces  VAT and Shipping included in this case, but expensive anyways.

One difference would be to buy thousands of these diodes.
