Why don't you move the google search bar to the top?
The built in search function in the forum isn't that great, and some people have trouble finding stuff because they don't know the google search bar is at the bottom, and use the built-in search instead..

Agreed, more new comers would see the search bar if it gets moved up top, and they may actually use it instead of asking a questions that's been asked already.

I think it got moved to the bottom because it was causing problems with the ads or something?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong

EDIT: Thanks Jerry

The Google Search bar was requested moved to the bottom of
the Forum pages to increase the Forum page load times..

It is fine just where it is... thanks.

well until someone posted i thought it had been removed.
Any way to then link the search button on lpf to that?
So it being on the bottom may not be the best idea for finding it.
But also load times are important.
What do we want more, faster load times or the flooding of noobs all asking the same question because the search engine fails.

Oh... Now I see the google search bar is the last element to load on the page (by at least 0.8 seconds o.o)

But I would still like it to be on the top... Any possibility of letting us have the option of where to have it show up?

You haven't been here long enough to know of the problems of load
time....

Stick around for a few months a see how it goes......

I like it where it is....:D

Sheesh... it's just under the Quick Reply Box.... It's not like
it takes a great effort to see it...

when your not looking you tend to not notice.
I thought it was gone and never gave the bottom of my page much thought.

is that to me jerry?

The 1st part was to the New Member.....

The part after your Quote would be addressed to you...
Just like it is always done...:yh:

I always look at the bottom of the page when I respond to
a Post.. That's still @kiyoukan...;)

you did that with an edit so i missed it.
Common jerry you got to be faster than that.

I think he's talking to me (Member since day before yesterday :D)

You need to slow down. The forum has a rhythm. People usually dont care about how the forum runs, they care about lasers. Thats what we are all here for. The forum is a wealth of info. As a new member I would think you are here to learn about lasers, and not nit pick about rules, etiquette, and search boxes. If you are not here to learn about lasers, and just want to chat, then you're in the wrong place. We do chat, but its a science forum, not Facebook. We talk about lasers first. Your first posts should be questions about lasers.

Seriously, you wont last here if you just want to dick around the forum. So please, save yourself, and us some time, and go if you dont want to lean about lasers. If you do, then learn, and let others worry about running the forum.

Search bar is better at the bottom because it was loading slow and caused the whole page to move down when it finally did load - which in turn was causing everyone to click on the wrong post.

And the new guys don't use it anyway, who are we kidding.
